The thing about city bikes is that, well… they’re a bit boring, no? They’re A-to-B machines with zero personality; just functional machines for a functional job.
Well hold on a second, because the Corratec LifeS Ap4 has got us a little bit excited. For starters, just check out those chunky 76mm tyres looking mean and purposeful – not much pressure needed in those, we’re sure.

The frame is a 6061 alloy construction, with tubes laid up in a city-friendly geometry that allows you to stay sat on the saddle and lay both feet on the ground when you arrive at a stop junction. Frankly, it resembles a low-rider motorcycle more than it does a traditional city e-bike (that’s fine by us, by the way).
Designed into the crank area is a Bosch Active Line Plus motor unit that puts out 250w of assistance to a limit of 25km/h, and that’s married to a Bosch PowerPack 400 Performance battery unit. The drivetrain is a Shimano Nexus 8-speed system, complete with a (Corratec component brand) ZZYZX E-Power crankset.
Stopping is covered by Shimano’s MT200 hydraulic brake system, with a 180mm rotor at the front and 160mm at the rear.
The finishing kit is a blend of an Ergotec bar and stem, and ZZYZX seat post and rims, while the saddle is a Corratec Trekking model. You also get custom-made mudguards, a rear rack for luggage and some built-in AXA Compact Line 20 lights too.

Finally, one of these will set you back £2,299, or you can upgrade the power pack to a 500wh model for an additional £200.
Those are the raw cold specs, but more importantly we really think it looks like a barrel of laughs and we’re seriously looking forward to putting it through its paces. Keep your eyes peeled for an eBikeTips review soon.
