The latest cycling kit at road.cc HQ features Castelli’s all-new fabric winter jacket, Fulcrum’s wavy rim all-road wheels, plus bike lights, cameras, and Geraint Thomas’ signature sunnies from SunGod. Here’s a first look, with full reviews on the way.
Chilli Technology Rear Camera & Light For Cycling (£99.99)

You may be considering buying a bike camera to record your rides to use as potential evidence like a car dashcam, and a rear light with an integrated cycling camera is a great option for recording this potentially crucial evidence if you’re unlucky enough to encounter an incompetent or dangerous driver while cycling.
This Chilli Technology Rear Camera & Light For Cycling combines a 1080p HD camera and 70 lumen light, claiming up to seven hours of continuous recording, when in daytime flash mode, or up to nine hours when the light is off.
It doesn’t match the 4K resolution of Cycliq’s Fly6 Pro, but at less than a third of the price, could this option from Chilli Technology offer enough to tempt riders looking for a budget-friendly alternative?

Fulcrum Sharq 42 Carbon SRAM XDR T/L Disc Brake Road Wheelset (£2,499.99)

Fulcrum joined the wavy rims crew with the launch of its Sharq all-road wheels last year, and that acronym loosely decodes as ‘smoothness, handling, aerodynamics, reactivity and comfort’.
The Sharq’s mix of symmetric and asymmetric rim ‘waves’ ranges from 42 to 47mm in depth, a design claimed to reduce wind-induced instability by 30% at lean angles of 10–20 degrees. The 25mm internal rim width is said to be optimised for tyres 30mm and up.
The complete wheelset weighs in at 1,472g on our scales and Stu Kerton is putting these to the test.

SunGod GTs with 8KO Iris Photochromic lens (£200)

Launched in 2023 as part of the Geraint Thomas Signature Series, the SunGod GTs marked the Welshman’s switch from his distinctive white Oakley Racing Jacket glasses. They’ve since become part of SunGod’s main range, and we’re testing this matte black pair.
Full-frame specs have largely disappeared from the pro peloton, but these tread a retro line. Instead of the industry-standard polycarbonate lenses used by Oakley, SunGod opts for 8KO nylon, which it claims delivers improved clarity on the road.
On our road.cc scales they weigh 34g, and you can choose from seven colourways – or even build your own.
Castelli Perfetto RoS 3 Jacket (£280)

Earlier this month, Castelli released a new Perfetto RoS 3 jacket that it claims “revolutionises breathable protection” thanks to an entirely new fabric – free from PFAS-based chemicals – developed with Polartec.
This AirCore fabric is exclusive to Castelli and is all about breathability with windproofing and water repellency. “AirCore has been engineered to keep cyclists dry from the inside out,” says Castelli.
The Castelli Perfetto RoS 3 is the first item of clothing to feature the new fabric and is designed to perform in both wet and dry conditions, and in a 4-14°C temperature range. We have one on test now, so we’ll soon see how the claims stack up.
Moon Titan Max (£89.99)

With lights-buying season approaching, we have a big selection currently in for review – including Moon’s Titan Max. This unit fits a quarter-turn mount and can be positioned either above or below the handlebar.
You have the choice of a circular beam or a more rectangular light distribution that’s more suitable for the road. It comes with a wireless remote and Moon says that you can get 1700 lumens for about an hour’s runtime, although various other modes are available. You can also use it as a battery pack to charge another device.
We’re testing this army green version, but it’s also available in black, teal, sky blue and purple.

More over priced irrelevant
More over priced irrelevant tat…
What kind of mugs actually buy this junk?
Choice is one thing, all this kind of daft nonsense does is turn of potential new entrants to cycling.
Makes it more of a minefield than buying a car.
You and manufacturers need get real…
You are driving a wheel via a chain and 2 sprockets.
So, decent wheel, good tyre at correct pressure, brakes to stop it.
Rest is just noise…
About time cyclist ere not looked at as mugs for a corporate gravy train.
Most important piece of kit – the engine driving it.
You!

So presumably you ride naked in the dark without lights? Yes some of the stuff above is overpriced but good lights are essential, good jackets and glasses greatly improve the pleasure of riding, cameras are a good way of ensuring that bad drivers get what they deserve and you say yourself you need decent wheels. All this rubbish about “turning off potential new entrants to cycling” is just tiresome. Sport cycling is, for most people, a hobby; as with just about every hobby, there are a range of options available and if people want to spend big money on their hobby then why not?

Complains that there is news about cycling.
Overpriced irrelevant tat? I
Overpriced irrelevant tat? I wouldn’t say a 100 quid camera with rear light is overpriced or irrelevant, more of an essential requirement these days unfortunately, and certainly one of the cheaper options available.
