The inner is lined with 100% bamboo, which feels soft against the skin and adds natural odour resistance and moisture wicking, while the Roubaix Merino blend balances insulation, breathability, and stretch.

It certainly stayed dry and comfortable on longer rides, and I didn’t get that cold-sweat chill after café stops. I’ve worn it on cool mornings, typically starting around 10°C and warming to about 13°C, and found it spot on – warm without overheating, especially on varied terrain.

According to Galibier, the jersey is intended for 8-14°C conditions, which feels accurate. I’d expect it to hold up well in dry weather down to around 5°C with a decent baselayer, but probably wouldn’t pick it for days over 14°C. It hits that ideal mid-season zone – great for those rides where the weather can’t make its mind up.
Fit & cut
This women-specific version of Galibier’s Roubaix Merino jersey is designed with comfort and layering in mind. It has a relaxed performance fit – snug across the shoulders and chest, with enough room through the torso to wear a baselayer underneath comfortably.

I tested a size large, which Galibier suggests is a UK 12. On me, the body fitted well and didn’t feel restrictive, but the sleeves were too big and baggy – they flapped in the wind on descents and let in the fresh morning air. The cuffs also felt loose, leaving a small gap when riding, which isn’t ideal on cooler days.

I’m a UK 12 in most cycling brands and would probably size down to a medium here for a more streamlined fit. The stretch in the fabric means you’ve got some flexibility if you prefer a closer cut.

The sleeve length worked well when in the drops, and the rear hem stays put thanks to a subtle but effective gripper.

Features
The jersey has three generous rear pockets – plenty of room for snacks, gloves, and even a packable rain jacket – plus a zipped pocket for keys or cards. It’s well designed for longer rides where you want to carry a bit more without adding a bag.

The full-length YKK zip is smooth and solid, and there’s a coloured inner strip that adds a flash of detail without shouting. It also acts as a soft zip garage at the neck to prevent chafing.

Reflective detailing is minimal but present on the zip tabs – enough for low-light finishes, without taking over the look.

I’ve worn and washed this a lot and it still looks as good as new, and the material doesn’t hold bad odours, making it a good choice for a bikepacking trip.

The red version on test is a warm, slightly muted tone – good for visibility but not overly bright. The pink Galibier branding blends well with the base colour for a subtle finish. It layers easily with black or navy tights and looks clean under a gilet. If your kit is mostly neutral, this adds a nice hint of colour, hopefully without clashing.
Value
Galibier continues to produce quality garments at great prices. At £58.22, this jersey offers excellent value. The materials, finish, and performance are on a par with much pricier jerseys – especially those made with full merino – but at nearly half the price.
Stu thought the GripGrab Gravelin Merinotech Thermal Long Sleeve Jersey was very good, but at £135 it’s over double the price of the Galibier jersey.

Likewise, the Gorewear Spinshift Thermo Long Sleeve Jersey received an excellent review from Hollis, but at £114.99 it’s nearly twice the price.
Even Van Rysel with its Men’s Mid-Season Long-Sleeved Road Cycling Jersey Racer – which Shaun thought was very good, and is available in a unisex version – is more expensive, at £64.99 (or £59.99 in lilac).
Conclusion
The Galibier Roubaix Merino is a versatile, well-made jersey that works exactly as intended. It’s warm, breathable, and comfortable for all-day rides. It’s let down slightly by the looser sleeves, but get the size right and it’s a dependable cool-weather jersey with excellent pocket space, all at a great price.

Size tested: Large
Tell us what the product is for
This is a long-sleeved jersey designed for cool-weather road cycling. It’s best suited to autumn and spring rides, and layering in colder conditions, ideal for group rides, hilly loops, and all-day outings where you need warmth, breathability, and good storage.
Galibier says: “Female Specific, 100% Merino mid-weight Cycling jersey, twinned with a bamboo core fabric for durability and performance.
A stunning garment, designed to combine performance with comfort. Created for long distances, this jersey is created for the female form, constructed from two natural materials and heat sealed to obtain the properties of both in a single material. The super soft face fabric, is a durable Merino wool while the inner fabric is soft bamboo for total comfort and moisture management.
This long sleeve, streamlined jersey will keep you warm and feeling fresh throughout the day. In the depths of winter, you can wear this with an additional layer for full protection. Body temperature is regulated superbly, so as your heart rate gets up it keeps you relatively cool, while post-ride it has great thermal properties too.
Hi-stretch and easy to wear on or off the bike with only a silicone gripper at the rear of the waistband. All our testers have used this off the bike as a staple garment. Odour resistant, with excellent perspiration wicking and thermoregulation.”

Sizing Details:
Easy fit, If you think you are a medium size 10, you are a medium galibier
Very well put together – clean stitching, quality fabric, and no signs of wear after multiple washes. The zip runs smoothly, and the bamboo lining gives it a premium, soft feel inside.
Performs exactly as needed for autumn and spring riding in the UK. On one cool morning (around 10°C, warming to 13°C) it kept me warm without overheating on climbs, while keeping me comfortable on descents. Galibier says it stays cool when your heart rate rises – I put that to the test on a steep hill effort, and it lived up to the claim: no sweat marks, no clamminess, and no post-climb chills. It handles temperature shifts well.
After repeated use and cool washes, the jersey has kept its shape and colour. No pilling, sagging, or wear on the pockets – even when loaded up with snacks and layers.
Flattering through the torso with a relaxed, endurance-style cut. I tested a large (UK 12), which matched my usual sizing, and it felt comfortable across the chest and waist. However, the sleeves were big and baggy – they flapped in the wind on descents and let in the morning chill. The cuffs were also looser than ideal for cooler conditions. I’m a UK 12 in most cycling brands and would size down to a medium next time for a closer fit on the arms.
Slightly generous, especially in the arms and cuffs. I’d suggest sizing down if you’re between sizes or prefer a closer, more streamlined fit.
Not ultra-light, but appropriate for a cool-weather jersey. The bamboo lining adds comfort and warmth, making it a good choice for a bikepacking trip.
Very comfortable on longer rides. The bamboo lining is soft next to skin and does a great job with moisture management. It kept me feeling dry and fresh during hill efforts and café stops.
Excellent for the price. At £58.22, it delivers performance, warmth, and a high-quality finish. Comparable merino jerseys from GripGrab or Gorewear cost double, but don’t necessarily offer more comfort or features – especially in terms of pocket size.
How easy is the product to care for? How did it respond to being washed?
Easy to care for. I washed it on a cool cycle and line dried each time – no shrinkage, stretching, or colour fade. Maintains its feel and shape after multiple washes.
Tell us how the product performed overall when used for its designed purpose
It performs exactly as a cool-weather jersey should: warm, breathable, and practical with big enough pockets and a soft, natural feel against the skin. Great for changeable spring/autumn UK conditions, especially on hilly or social rides with stops and starts. Good at regulating temperature whether you’re climbing or descending.
Tell us what you particularly liked about the product
The soft lining, generous pockets, subtle styling touches (like the coloured zip guard), and the way it handled variable effort levels – warm when needed, but never stuffy.
Tell us what you particularly disliked about the product
The sleeve fit. Too loose in the arms and wrists, letting in cold air and flapping around at speed. Cuffs could use a snugger finish for cool-weather use.
How does the price compare to that of similar products in the market, including ones recently tested on road.cc?
Very well. It’s significantly cheaper than many merino-blend or full-merino jerseys on the market, while offering similar (or better) comfort, practicality, and performance.

The Galibier Roubaix Merino Jersey strikes a great balance between performance, comfort, and value. It’s not flashy, but it delivers where it matters – warmth without bulk, breathability on climbs, and storage for long rides. Sizing could be better around the arms, but overall, it’s a reliable and easy-to-wear option for the cooler months.
