The theft of a bike from Cambridgeshire County Council may have been followed by one of the oddest getaways in the history of recorded crime.
The “Wobble Bike” was assembled from bits of scrap machines, and has a geometry that only Mr Magoo could be proud of.
With its offset wheels and its back-to-front forks it is deemed unfit for riding on the road and was used by Cycle Cambridge as a way of engaging with youngsters with a view to encouraging them to take up cycling.
The machine was stolen from an unlocked storage area at the council’s Cambridge headquarters sometime between last Tuesday and Friday. A police spokesman told Cambridge News: “It is very distinctive and it would be very difficult to ride it. I would urge anyone who sees it to contact us.”
If you see an offset person in perfect control of the bike or, more likely, a normal one struggling to stay upright on it, you are asked to call Cambridgeshire police on 0345 456 4564.

Seen plenty of these- someone
Seen plenty of these- someone who assembled their own boxed supermarket special might be arrested by mistake.

I think it’s on a display stand outside Sports-Direct!
I’ve had bikes just like that
I’ve had bikes just like that in the past… when the kids were young, and I was poor. 🙂
