Half a million people are set to find fun and freedom as part of this year’s Bike Week, which will run from June 10-18. Comprising hundreds of free events, Bike Week’s aim is to celebrate ‘everyday cycling for everyone’ and persuade even more people to take to two wheels on a regular basis.
Delivered by Cycling UK in partnership with Halfords, and supported by Cycling Scotland in Scotland, Bike Week will see events taking place up and down the UK, ranging from family friendly traffic-free rides to bike breakfasts and even naked bike rides.
Participants will also be able to get a free bike check at Halfords stores, where staff will give any (clean) bike a once-over with no need to book. If faults are found with your bike, you can also get 20 per cent off the price of gold, silver and bronze servicing.
Cycling UK’s Chief Executive, Paul Tuohy said: “Bike Week is the UK’s excuse for a party on a bike, and that’s why our theme this year is ‘fun and freedom’. Cycling UK wants to help millions more people to rediscover – or find out for the first time – just how much fun you can have cycling.
“So whether you’re out with friends, are planning a family get together, or like getting away from the daily grind, join the half a million people taking part in Bike Week from June 10-18.”
You can also enter a prize draw simply by pledging to take part. Top prize is a Halfords bike of your choice worth £600. Visit www.bikeweek.org.uk/pledge to find out more.
