"All cool!" exclaims youngster, seconds before crashing...

Here's a video of a young chap who is that pleased with himself at pulling a pretty neat trick on his BMX bike that he forgets to look where he’s going … and crashes into another youngster coming the other way.

Posted to the Drunkcyclist Instagram feed (though we’re pretty sure there was no alcohol involved in this particular mishap), the kid stands on the top tube of his bike and says to person doing the filming, “All cool!” seconds before coming to grief.

Luckily the collision was at low speed – let’s hope neither of the lads was too badly hurt (we’re guessing they weren’t if the parent, or whoever, with the camera posted it to the internet afterwards).

This is why reflectors need to be banned from bicycle wheels.

Born in Scotland, Simon moved to London aged seven and now lives in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with his miniature schnauzer, Elodie. He fell in love with cycling one Saturday morning in 1994 while living in Italy when Milan-San Remo went past his front door. A daily cycle commuter in London back before riding to work started to boom, he's been news editor at road.cc since 2009. Handily for work, he speaks French and Italian. He doesn't get to ride his Colnago as often as he'd like, and freely admits he's much more adept at cooking than fettling with bikes.
