Video: Driver tailgates BBC's Jeremy Vine then kicks out at him

Aggressive motorist in Kensington also made 'gun' with fingers and took aim at broadcaster...

Jeremy Vine, who from next month will be the host of the BBC TV show Crimewatch, got some first-hand insight of his new role while commuting by bike last week, filming an incident with an extremely aggressive driver who got out of her car and kicked out at him, then later mimicked aiming a gun at him.

The episode happened on Friday on a one-way street by Kensington Town Hall, Vine riding in primary position since the parked cars on either side of the road meant there was insufficient room for a car to safely overtake a bicycle.

The driver beeped her horn at him, moving up close to his rear wheel, and when Vine pointed out there was not enough room to overtake, saying "there's got to be a car's width," the motorist got out of her car, kicking out at him and telling the TV and radio presenter to "Get the f*ck out the road."

Shortly afterwards, the woman got out of her car again at the junction with Kensington High Street, telling Vine to stop filming her car, before getting back in and making the shape of a pistol with her fingers, aiming a 'shot' at him.

Vine posted footage of what happened to his Facebook page, saying; "I hate to overload our hard-working London police with footage from my commute, but I feel the person you see on the tape will at some point hurt someone very badly - either with her car or in a direct personal assault."

Dikwad? lol.

I'm sorry, why do you think that someone who talks like that is in a position to demand a standard of others which we clearly fails to reach himself?

Also, pretty sure it would be a Sociological argument or perhaps one of logic which is, I admit, a subset of philosophy but your statement didn't seem to imply you meant that.

Also, I don't have all day to spend on the comments section of this website!

Have a read of what I wrote and have a another go at understanding it, rather than firing off another load of abuse.

I'm off down the pub so won't see this for a few hours.

Plenty of time for a think.

I've made my point. I think the original criticism stands.

Also, seriously Google ad hominem. Your last paragraph- exactly what I'm talking about.

Please.

Oh cringe. Seriously, you out yourself as culturally out of touch while trying to act as a cultural guardian. laugh

Ad hominem applies when you make a point, then I call you a dickwad.

We're not there yet, you need to make a point. To do that you need to provide logical proof that a racist statement has been made. You're into this logic stuff, so I want it in proper philosophical form.

Go.

The point is (now read carefully) you made/supported a racist comment. There is no definition of making a point being valid only with logical proof (whatever that is). Wasn't hard was it you knob-chucky!

Anyway back to the article.

Her car is also showing on ask mid as insured. However for insurance to be valid the car must be road legal. With no valid tax it is not road legal, therefore she is also uninsured. As well as being a terrible driver.

Has she passed a driving test?

Look, you disagree with me or don't understand (or both).

Calling it bilge is not advancing a conversation and it's frankly boring.

Google 'ad hominem' if you like.

For me to disagree with you, you would need to have a point.

All this is, is a stereotypical rabid reactionary trying to patch his self-esteem on the interweb by calling someone else a racist, sexist or whatever.

No-one cares.  You're like a weaksauce left-wing equivilent of Katie Hopkins and an embarassment to real left wingers who actually do and have worked in the social services with disadvantaged minorities.

Haha, there's nothing like a good motorist-attacks-cyclist video to trigger a pointless argument amongst readers is there?

Quality entertainment!

Back to the topic.
He could of pulled over right where he stopped and why pull along side the car after stopping behind the carand having he get out again and tell him off...
Pull over let rant and stay clear.

Whilst I agree with you, to a point...why should he? He is allowed, nay, permitted to be there...

Or, she could've not beeped her horn waited 10 seconds and waited quietly at the traffic lights.

I'd be inclined to show the police, point out its untaxed and ask them nicely to impound it, now that would be funny.

I'm very glad Jeremy Vine responded in a calm manner and did not inflame the situation. That is exactly the way to act, especially if you have cameras on board and know that action can be taken.

It may be tempting to respond with a violent or dominant act but that driver will just be doubly angry at the next cyclist they meet (who will possibly be less able to deal with it than you are)

Regards

Tony

What I love most about this one is that she's so upset he's filming and "taking a picture of her personal belongings" but her slamming the Porsche beside her with her door when she gets out is absolutely fine....  Hope the owner of th ePorsche sees this so he can get the inevitable chip repaired at her expense. . . .

Whilst the driver appears to be a complete nut job, you have to wonder why Vine decided to stop in the middle of the road and prompt an altercation rather than just pull over when the road opened out (which it seemed to do just after he blocked the road) and let her drive past.

That said I was hoping he was going to d-lock her back window as she pulled away, but I guess a Crimewatch presenter knows better than that!

So, what's the chance that the police do anything about this dangerous driver (beyond telling her to check to cameras before kicking off)?

They may look do something about this as according the DVLA tax checker the vehicle isn't taxed (someone on Twitter posted this data).  We can't have the exchequer being short changed now, can we!

My general view is that if a car is being driven that isn't taxed or that isn't insured it should be confiscated and then sold off in auction, with the money going directly into the police's budget.

Pathetic.

I'm sure there are plenty of websites out there for lazy racist and sexist comments. Why don't you leave disgusting comments where they belong?

Stick to cycling and have a scrap of human decency. It's not much to ask is it?

Sorry to bore you with facts but 72% of black kids in the U.S. are raised in single parent families.  How is something clearly contained within the black community anything to do with racism? And sexism? Lost me there.

Anyway IT WAS A JOKE!!! It wasn't Frankie Boyle and disabled kids level but somebody always gets offended....very easily it seems.
