Cyclist dies following collision near Lichfield

The collision happened last night when a van and the cyclist collided

A cyclist has died following a collision with a van near Lichfield on Saturday night.

The crash happened on Birmingham Road near the junction with Wall Island, a busy five armed roundabout linking the A5 Wall bypass and the M6, at around 8.45pm on Saturday evening.

Bystanders administered CPR but doctors and paramedics were unable to revive the man, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman told the Birmingham Mail (bit.ly/1NO2pqO):

“Crews arrived to find a man who was in cardiac arrest when his push bike and a van had been in collision.

“Bystanders were already administering CPR prior to our arrival.”

The van driver was treated for shock.

Isn't it a collision between a van and a bicycle? Not a van and a cyclist? Unless the cyclist had already come off when the van hit them/they hit the van..,

Was that shock because he (the van driver) wasn't arrested?
