Sir Bradley Wiggins, winner of the Tour of Britain in 2013, will be the star attraction at this year’s race, which starts on Anglesey on Sunday. Here’s a look at some of the riders competing, as well as an overview of the stages.

With most teams having confirmed their line-ups for the race, the field will also include defending champion Dylan van Baarle of Cannondale-Garmin, Etixx-Quick Step’s Mark Cavendish, looking to add to his 10 stage wins, and Lotto-Soudal’s André Greipel, winner of four stages at the Tour de France in July.

Wiggins, the first British rider to win the Tour de France and a household name through that success and his four Olympic gold medals will be the star attraction, as he was at May’s inaugural Tour de Yorkshire, his first race with Team Wiggins.

The outfit is one of five British registered teams – others include Madison-Genesis and Raleigh GAC – which will race alongside some of the world’s top teams including a Ben Swift-led Team Sky as well as BMC Racing and Tinkoff-Saxo during the eight-day Tour.

From Wales, the race heads through north west England to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, before heading down the east coast towards London and the finale a week on Sunday on a brand new circuit in the heart of the West End.

On the way, it will take in the toughest ever summit finish to feature in the race, at Hartside Fell, and details of that and all other stages, including spectator information and start and finish times, can be found on the Tour of Britain website.
