A cyclist attempting a street trials stunt in the German city of Cologne had to embark on a rather unique triathlon after his bike fell into the River Rhine when a stunt went wrong – with the episode caught on camera by a friend who was filming him.

Felix Kaiser – perhaps unkindly nicknamed Failix in the description to the video on YouTube – had been riding the bike along a railing on the promenade alongside the river when he lost his balance.

The bike went one way, falling into the river, Felix went the other, landing on his feet on the pavement and watching his bike get swept downriver by the strong current, the air in the tyres helping to act as a buoyancy aid.

Next comes the running leg of a bizarre street trials triathlon as he tries to get ahead of the bike, followed by an ultra-quick strip as he decides to swim out and succeeds in retrieving it.

Daniel Gorez, who shot the film and uploaded it to YouTube, said: “So here you can see what a man do for his bike… true lovestory! Failix is back, with a next level fail and again on a rail. This guy is so nuts.”
