Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

Dawlish driver suffered seizure before smashing into wall

He was only 20 minutes away from the motorway

A motorist who smashed into a wall after suffering a seizure at the wheel has vowed never to drive again. Mark Garwood crashed into the boundary of a residential property in Dawlish.

A check on the police national computer revealed his licence had previously been revoked due to his epilepsy and he should not have been driving. Garwood told a court he thought he was safe and legal to drive but the crash had made him think again.

The judge accepted it was not a deliberate decision to breach the rules  and fined him £160.

Deputy district judge Peter Donnison said: "I find you are genuinely remorseful and this arose more out of oversight than a deliberate decision to breach the rules. You recognise the error you made on that night."

The judge did not disqualify Garwood and added three penalty points. His licence is still revoked.

Dorset trains: Crash between Wool and Weymouth stations

The crash happened between the Wool and Weymouth line on Friday evening, February 14 and left the fencing and equipment ruined.

Dorset Police said a white Mercedes had crashed into the level crossing barrier in Lewell Road, near Crossways.

Earlier, a man driving the Mercedes stopped to assist after coming across two men by a silver Ford Focus.

It appeared their vehicle had either broken down or been involved in a collision.

Police said the two men then removed the Mercedes driver from his car and attempted to drive off in the vehicle, before colliding with a barrier at a level crossing.

Someone in the comments speculates that it's an unmarked police car, which would go some way to explaining why it's in a pedestrian precinct. Picture is from Google, being the nearest I could get to the scene.

Today at around noon, a vehicle was driven into the pool area of Club Fit on North State Road in Briarcliff Manor, New York. Thankfully no one was injured. While we do encourage car pooling, this is not what we had in mind. Have a safe weekend.

I agree, you have to get to the fourth paragraph before there is any indication that another human being was involved in the incident.

How can that possibly not be a deliberate decision?

Judges are just making a mockery of the laws around driving if they will accept people driving whilst being disqualified and being a clear danger to other people.

Car crash in The Butts in Worcester but driver not a scene

A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "One crew from Worcester Fire Station was called at 2.41am on February 18 to an RTC into a building at The Butts, Worcester.

"A car had left the road, mounted the pavement and hit the corner of a building.

"Fire Service personnel made the vehicle safe and left the incident with police."

No arrests have been made.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "A call was received around 4:20am this morning (18 February) with a report of a road traffic collision at The Butts, Worcester.

"Officers arrived at the scene to find one car had collided with a property.

"The occupants of the vehicle had left the area before officers arrived and enquiries are now on going."

It was the second car to crash into a wall in Worcester on the same day as another one hit a wall on Deansway less than five hours later.

"Catastrophic damage". To a wall. One wonders what adjective they would have reached for if it had been a person.
