What bike to tow a trailer with?

Hello,

I am a separated parent without a car, and would like to take my little one places. I have a trailer that attaches to the rear quick release. Does anyone have experience with trailers that attaches this way? I have two bikes but both are light alloy road bikes and I am worried it might damage the frame.

should I sell one to get a cheap sturdy hybrid/mtb thing for the trailer or the road bike will be fine? any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Drive happens through the rear wheel - to that extent the hitch is better on the rear axle. Braking normally is at the front, so there will be more stress in the frame in that case, similarly if you were braking just at the rear, but the weight of the trailer at the qr (depending in trailer balance) may allow you to spread braking between front and back.

One thing to consider - but only as a very vague comparison cos normally the rider mass is at the saddle -- is what's the rider weight range of the bike, compared to the weight of yourself + child + trailer ?

after a quick google the rider weight limit is 85kg, me and my daughter roughly combines for 72kg, i don't know how much the trailer weighs but I doubt it's that much. Thanks for your advice, I will try to mainly use my rear brake.

Or sell the trailer and get one that fits to the seat stem
