Chase The Pace is a new Sportive on the Kent cycling calendar. Offering riders the choice of one or two laps they will have the opportunity to improve on their first by changing the way they tackle the 47 mile circuit. First time round, you don't know what to expect the second time round you do; what would you do differently?
One Lap or Two?
A Sportive with a difference; Chase The Pace offers one or two laps over a teasing but testing 47 mile circuit through the Kent Downs. Setting out from Sittingbourne the route quickly enters the countryside and meanders along quiet lanes that are that will be well known to local cyclists in the area. The autumn landscape serves up a delight of colour as the undulating terrain takes the route to the feature climb of the Devil’s Kneading Trough at the halfway point.
You Set The Pace, You Chase It!
Have you ever wondered what you could have done differently on a Sportive? The second lap gives you the chance to do just that. Knowing what lies ahead the second time around will you blast up that hill again or will you pace it out so that you not in the red zone at the summit? Tricky descents are a little easier the second time and can be even more exhilarating!
Route Features
Not quite up for two laps; why not just do the one? At 47 miles it is still a challenge with all the same ingredients of the two lap version, just less miles! Passing through Doddington, Stalisfield, Wye and Newnham You can expect excellent support out on the signed route with High5 powered feed stations, medical and mechanic provision, roaming moto marshals and a broom wagon.
Pedal For A Purpose
As well as a great day in the saddle that this event offers we are asking riders taking part to raise sponsorship for our charity partner Demelza Hospice Care for Children; a charity supporting families across Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

Yeah - and one of the passengers had the gall to say that the *driver* had taken a wrong turn!...
Don't worry! They've got plenty of others they can use!...
Well what is that way? Are you suggesting that every bend on every descent can be barriered over a 180km mountain stage?
Hopefully it'll still be allowed for recreational use.
Well Gloucestershire are getting better. I'm being told whether or not action is to be taken, but not what action, within a few days of each report...
Churnalism nowadays - mostly clickbait stuff and regurgitation in the local rags/comics and beyond.
I'm glad the barrier wasn't damaged. Whew, close one there! \s
