This weekend (6-7 August 2016) sees the inaugural running of the Aggregate 100 which is billed as ‘the UK’s first gravel enduro’.

The Aggregate 100 – 100km (62.5 miles) long – is designed as a mix between American gravel racing and a mountain bike enduro. The race is being held at The New Inn, Cropton, home of The Great Yorkshire Brewery on the North York Moors.

“Saturday is a chance to meet and eye up your fellow competitors with The Dog Show,” say organisers Kinesis. “Don’t worry, it doesn’t involve any dogs at all! We’ve all been to fancy bike shows but this time it’s your chance to let your bike shine by entering our mutt show for bikes. 

“Will you be winning a rosette for Glossiest Coat or Most Appealing Smile (that’s a bike built up from a stock frame and a complete bike, just in case you were guessing)?”

The bar will be open in the camping field with beers ‘inspired by the Kinesis UK range of bikes’ – we’re not exactly sure how that works – along with entertainment and street food.

Sunday’s Aggregate 100 race is open to solo riders and pairs. The scoring is taken from your aggregate times across four race sections. 

Each segment is different with various aggregate surfaces, including the ancient Rudland Rigg route high up on the moor. You then wind down the cinder track of an old railway and into Cropton Forest. There are two feed stations en route.
