£17 million funding boost for cycling and walking in Cornwall
Highways England is investing the money as part of Highways England’s Cycling, Safety and Integration Designated Fund, alongside a further £2 million from Cornwall Council towards “a comprehensive, high-quality off-road walking and cycling”. The improvements will span over 30km to improve the cycle network in Cornwall and aim to increase cycling as a method of travel to work and contribute to healthy active lifestyles. The routes include St Agnes to Truro, Trispen to Idless, St Newlyn East to Carland Cross, Perranporth to Newquay. They’re due to be finished in Spring 2021.

@Podc Missing the point. I don't burn through petrol when driving out of cyclist-hating UK to much more cyclist-welcoming Europe, purely for environmental reasons, and then push runners out of the way and shout at them, on 'my' path. What is happening is carbrain disease. Drive to parkrun, get out of entitlement box, continue run with carbrain on. What is 'needed' is some shocking vehicle close passes of runners from drivers, to bring runners up to speed with the carbrain disease.

@antigee I think you'll find cars have been there and hence "in keeping" for hundreds of years (is this right? Anyway, well before 2000...) While cycling is obviously a very recent phenomenon, willed in to being by these woke councils...

I wonder how much of the Cornish road building budget that is? I could look it up, but I can’t be arsed: my guess is about 0.1%. Pretty generous.
