“It’s definitely the freakiest thing that’s ever happened to me on a ride.” That’s what a cyclist in South Australia told 7 News about the moment a kangaroo leapt over his head – with footage of the incident captured on the rear-facing camera of one of the friends he was riding with.
Peter Roberts posted a video to Facebook of the incident, which happened in the wonderfully named Humbug Scrub north of Adelaide, which forms part of the Para Wirra Conservation Park.
The marsupial gave Michael Bland’s cycle helmet just a glancing blow as it jumped over him.
Neither the cyclist nor the kangaroo, which bounded into the bush on the other side of the road, was hurt.
Roberts said: “Today’s excitement: Attack of the Roo!!! Note. No animals were harmed in the making of the video. Michael Bland however needs to buy a lotto ticket!”

You say ‘Only in Australia’ but has anyone had issues with the mobs of Wallabies that live in the North York Moors national park? Or have they been erradicated since they got out of control in the 90s?

They were all but gone in the 1990’s If they were ever indeed out of control it would have been in the 1940’s in Staffordshire.
