A cyclist has called for police action in Yeovil, where he says motorists are breaking the law by using a restricted shortcut to avoid roadworks.

The anonymous cyclist said a route out of Yeovil Pen Mill station is meant only for buses and taxis, but drivers are ignoring the law – and he has been almost knocked off his bike every day this week.

He told Somerset Live: “Every morning I cycle by the station and so many cars are coming down the wrong way nearly taking me out.

“It has happened every day this week. If it had only happened once then I could accept it but as it has happened to me every day then it is probably going on all the time.

“I think a police officer should be there to fine everybody because what they are doing is illegal.”
