Here at ebiketips, we just love e-cargo bikes, but we will admit they can be pretty sizeable compared to regular bikes. Bristol-based Micro Mobility Labs is seeking to address this with its upcoming electric trailer, Convoy.
Convoy is not unlike the bench seat from a longtail cargo bike, only with its own wheel and 250W motor.

It has a 30km range and boasts carrying capacity of up to 50kg. Crucially, that’s enough that it can accommodate two small children. As you can see from much of the imagery on the website, there’s definitely a family focus here.
Convoy attaches quickly without tools, via a three-point locking mechanism.
When you’re ready to go, Convoy will provide assistance to negate its load, while patent-pending steer-by-wire technology is said to ensure an “organic, nimble ride radically different to the experience of riding a bike with a traditional trailer.”
Strikingly, charging is via a standard USB-C cable.

According to co-founder Josh Richards, the big selling point of Convoy is that, “it delivers cargo capacity without the compromises of living with a full-size cargo bike. I already had bikes I loved to ride, but as a new dad, most of my riding involved nursery drop offs, parcel returns, and food shopping – tasks my bikes just weren’t set up for. With Convoy, I get to ride the bike I love, breeze through daily errands, and enjoy the extra boost of electric assist.”
Convoy will cost £1,799 and will be available through the UK’s Cycle to Work subsidy scheme, which should bring the cost down under £1,000.
It’ll be on display at Everything Electric at Excel London from tomorrow.
