It happens to all cyclists – you spot a piece of debris on the road ahead that seems to be one thing then, on closer inspection, it turns out to be something else entirely.

That’s what happened to this rider in Florida, who began bemoaning someone leaving a log in the road before correcting himself, saying,  “Oh that’s a crocodile. Or alligator. Whatever.” [We assume the middle one – Ed]

In 2014, Florida cyclist Steve Spell fell off his bike as he attempted to take a selfie when he realised he was about to run over an alligator.

He berated the creature afterwards with the words, “You were just all up in my Corn Flakes, buddy.”
