Light as today’s road bikes may be, it can be a bit of an effort to lift them up onto the roof rack at the end of a ride, so here’s Cannondale star Peter Sagan showing how to get one safely stowed without getting out of the saddle.
The video, which should probably come with a ‘don’t try this at home (or out in the woods)’ type warning, is the second in recent months to show one of last year’s Tour de France jersey winners showing some expert bike parking skills – remember Bradley Wiggins’ perfectly executed bike toss at the Giro del Trentino?
So we’re now looking forward to seeing King of the Mountains winner Thomas Voeckler and last year’s best young rider, Tejay van Garderen, share their cycle parking secrets…

Wow!
Wow!
Sagan cheating shocker >
Sagan cheating shocker > there is a ramp, unless Sagan can magically levitate his back wheel.
It wasn’t the riding on the
It wasn’t the riding on the roof that was impressive but jumping down in cleats! 😉
Nice bit of parking, also
Nice bit of parking, also watch some of the other clips supplied by Jakub Minka I loved the share the road/look out for cyclists type public broadcast ads pity this country couldn’t do some.
I think there was a ramp and
I think there was a ramp and someone else moved it away when the cameraman was getting out of the car.
still cool though!
And the bike was already on
And the bike was already on the roof. his bike is in the ditch. even so, cool vid!
Now that’s the way to do it!
Now that’s the way to do it! I’ll book my slot in A&E
Def fake, that’s a Citroen,
Def fake, that’s a Citroen, there would be a channel as deep as a storm drain in the bonnet if he’d ridden up it! 😉
He comes from a mountain bike
He comes from a mountain bike background and he’s a former junior world champion in that discipline and he’s also ridden cyclocross.
He shows off a bit of street skills here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItBV9CVJEoo (Tremendous downhill no footed wheelie)
Lets not forget that he’s pulled a no handed wheelie going up a mountain, I think riding up a car bonnet is probably well within his capability.
Damn, I was hoping he’d swing
Damn, I was hoping he’d swing down and through an open window
The getting on the roof via
The getting on the roof via the bonnet thing is real, but the locking the bike in is fake. How, in 5 seconds (watch it) from disappearing from view does he get the bike in the channel, off the bike, pull up the locking device, lock it and then be jumping down? He drops the bike he rode up onto the roof off the other side out of view is the answer.

Maybe he rode into the channel? (not sarcastic)
Definitely possible. Video
Definitely possible. Video could perhaps have been edited/a bit of a set-up but then again it could be done with no ramps/extra bikes etc. Danny MacAskill isn’t the only one with mad trials skills!
There’s clearly a cut when
There’s clearly a cut when the door is opened, even Peter Sagan can’t dismount and attach his bike to the roof that quickly. Still cool though…
