Becoming a mother is not going to stand in Kristin Armstrong’s way when it comes to defending her Olympic title.
It has emerged that just a month after having her first child, Armstrong has decided to return to professional cycling.
Having retired in 2009 and with the subsequent news that she was pregnant, the American appeared set for a settled domestic life, raising a family. But just like her more famous male namesake, Armstrong’s competitive streak has overridden any thoughts of settling for the quiet life.
The Boise, Idaho resident who won gold in the Time Trial event in Beijing has set her sights on London 2012.
Armstrong, who was Time Trial world champion in 2006 and 2009 said: “I with consulted my coach before I made the decision and I said ‘Hey Jim, tell me the truth can I make this happen, is it going to happen?’ and he came back and said ‘I think it can’”
Armstrong will get back into her full training regime on November 1, giving her about 20 months to prepare for the Olympics.

Kristin Armstrong is not related to Lance Armstrong in any way guys. Don’t confuse her with his ex-wife.
