Rimpact Components has updated its Chain Damper for 2026, with a significant £90 price drop and the inclusion of two spring rates as standard. While the product itself hasn’t changed, the updates do represent far better value for money for a product that’s aimed at serious riders looking for every ounce of descending performance they can get.

Since the launch of the Chain Damper in 2024, the device has become popular on the World Cup scene, as riders look to make performance gains wherever they can. The main purpose of the Chain Damper is to tame drivetrain feedback and mitigate chain slap, something we’ve all been subjected to when riding downhill.

While it’s a pretty niche product, it’s taken the pro scene by storm, with a claimed 15 ‘top flight’ teams using it. But with an RRP of £279.99, it’s been out of reach for many more casual riders – until now.
With greater demand and likely more sophisticated manufacturing processes, Rimpact has been able to drop the price by £90 to £189.99, citing the reason for this being to “open it up to more riders.”

Additionally, the brand has taken on rider feedback and has decided to ship the Chain Damper with two spring rates as standard. This means both DH and Trail spring rate sets are included, whereas before only the DH springs were.
Which one to choose? The DH springs are designed to offer more composure during technical and fast descents, and come fitted on 34-36t units. The Trail springs, which were previously only available to buy separately, create a more natural feel on undulating terrain rather than strictly downhill riding. The Trail springs come fitted on 30-32t units.
The Chain Damper is available in its new format now, and riders can purchase directly from the Rimpact website.
