Get your skates on for low-priced bike lights

Special offer from Cycle Cambridge at local ice-skating rink

Cycling and ice-skating may not seem the most natural of bed-fellows (although as the comments below show they do have a lot in common), so we’re more than happy to go with this one if it helps keep the two-wheeled burghers of Cambridge safe.

Working in partnership with Cambridge on Ice and Ben Hayward cycles, the the city’s Cycle Cambridge team has organised number of ‘light up your bike’ events at the ice skating rink on Parker’s Piece over the coming weeks.

At each event cyclists will be able to purchase a set of specially-priced bike lights, reduced to £4.99 and get them fitted for free. They will also receive a discount voucher to ice skate for just £6.50 on weekdays.

There will be free advice on cycling in the dark including what to wear and what to use on your bike as well as free maps, cycle training information and free reflective bike goodies to help cyclists 'be safe and be seen'. The events are from 4 - 7pm on December 8 and 15 at Cambridge on Ice, Parker's Piece.

The events are organised by Cycle Cambridge, a joint campaign of local authorities that will see around £7 million spent on encouraging cycling in Cambridge as well as the surrounding villages.

True + there's crossover between speed skating and cycling, I think Jefte de Bruin who rode for Kuota-road.cc last year might have been a speed skater

Same muscle groups for cycling & skating, pro hockey teams travel with spin bikes for warm up/down and workouts.
