Fantasy Cycling 2011 with road.cc and Evans CyclesFantasy Cycling: today's stage neutralised
Okay. After a fun night of trying to get the server back on its feet and a game glitch that affected everyone's tactics, we've decided to neutralise today's stage and run the game on from tomorrow. Everyone's team will be reset to the one they finished the Dauphiné with, and transfers will be limited to four - the two you should have been able to make today, and the two you would have got anyway.
Here are the questions you no doubt have, and the answers:
What happened to the server?
We're not entirely sure, but we think it was a damaged site module on road.cc coupled with high traffic. We don't think it was an attack. We've removed the module now and we're investigating the issue.
Why was the game allowing me unlimited transfers when I was only supposed to get two?
The game switches from the transfer page to the unlimited 'pick team' page based on a list of unlimited stages that's separate to the main stage list. Stage 37 was in that list when it wasn't supposed to be, probably from way back when we hadn't clocked that the two tours overlapped.
Why have you reset my team back to the end of the Dauphiné?
Because that's the most sensible line in the sand; there was never meant to be an unlimited stage in this section of the game, and many people set their tactics accordingly. Also, the server issue meant that some people lost credits when the server didn't log changes properly, so re-establishing everyone's team at that point solves that problem too.
I've only got four transfers now and a whole bunch of Dauphiné riders though!
Well, that's the situation you would have been in had the game run through this stage as it was scheduled to do.

Good choice i think. Just to bad for it took some time to change my complete team which was no use.
If you're playing as a purist, changes in this stage won't be logged so ou can swap your team about.
So can I transfer or not!?!?! The above makes me think yes but thought the pre daph rules said no? Dave help please fella!!!
as a general rule, whenever it says 'pick team' you can, and whenever it says 'transfers' you can't
so you can't.

Will the teams be reset before the transfer window opens? If not, I can see more confusion arising. My team is still showing as the newly picked version, not Sunday's.

cheers, bit of a wounder as I managed to get a whole team in which i had hoped would subsequently have given me an unfair advantage, but not to worry!
so dave, at the end of yesterdays stages in the dauphine and the TdS I had 5 riders in the dauphine and 4 in the TdS, so I will get another 4 transfers tonight, is that right?

No worries from our perspective. Thanks for that, Dave. Hope you haven't grown too many silver hairs with the extra pressure ! I will be interested to see what my special selection for today would have got, but won't lose any sleep if it was supremely talented !

I shall doubtless regret those words if it turns out that the alternative squad I picked would have given 8 of the top 10 on today's stage

So does that mean the teams will be rolled back to before the unlimited transfers stage? If not then i'll be disappointed at it being neutralised because thats another chance of making good points back gone
