Shimano’s new GRX groupset for gravel and adventure bikes has been one of the most eagerly anticipated new products of 2019, partly because it sees a proper 1x setup for the first time that doesn’t require cobbling together mountain bike components to road bar shifters. 

Was it worth the wait though? It’s a question I’ve tried to answer in the video above by spending some time riding the RX800 mechanical groupset on a Mason Bokeh that is currently on test. I took it up and down my graveliest tracks to see how it fares.
