Test ride women-specific bikes at Dalby Bike Barn Ladies Day Saturday

Women's Scott and Santa Cruz bikes plus skills sessions & rides in the forest...

North Yorkshire bike shop Dalby Bike Barn is hosting a demo day featuring women-specific bikes and clothing on Saturday August 10.

The event runs from 10am to 4 pm and includes bike demo rides, guided road and mountain bike rides, and skills sessions.

Dalby Bike Barn’s Sophie Carter says: “It won't simply be a line-up of pink cycling stuff.

"We'll have key demo bikes from Santa Cruz as they launch their women-specific Juliana bikes, clothing and accessories whilst Scott will bring their Contessa demo bikes and clothing with at least one member of their women’s Contessa team attending.

"We'll also have a range of leading brands showing their latest women’s products.”

You’ll need photo ID (passport or driving licence) as security for all demo bike rides or bike hire, and you’ll need your own pedals.

For more details see Dalby Bike Barn or give them a call on 01751 460049 to reserve a spot on a ride.

John has been writing about bikes and cycling for over 30 years since discovering that people were mug enough to pay him for it rather than expecting him to do an honest day's work.

He was heavily involved in the mountain bike boom of the late 1980s as a racer, team manager and race promoter, and that led to writing for Mountain Biking UK magazine shortly after its inception. He got the gig by phoning up the editor and telling him the magazine was rubbish and he could do better. Rather than telling him to get lost, MBUK editor Tym Manley called John’s bluff and the rest is history.

Since then he has worked on MTB Pro magazine and was editor of Maximum Mountain Bike and Australian Mountain Bike magazines, before switching to the web in 2000 to work for CyclingNews.com. Along with road.cc founder Tony Farrelly, John was on the launch team for BikeRadar.com and subsequently became editor in chief of Future Publishing’s group of cycling magazines and websites, including Cycling Plus, MBUK, What Mountain Bike and Procycling.

John has also written for Cyclist magazine, edited the BikeMagic website and was founding editor of TotalWomensCycling.com before handing over to someone far more representative of the site's main audience.

He joined road.cc in 2013. He lives in Cambridge where the lack of hills is more than made up for by the headwinds.

Too bad I live many miles away. Sounds like great idea and one that could be arranged anywhere...like Bristol, perhaps?

To anyone who hasn't tried the red route at Dalby, I throughly recommend it. 21 miles of single track and good mixture of technical and easy terrain, fast flowing and quite hilly

An article about test-riding women specific bikes...that you illustrate with an image of two MAMILs. I have to say that you're really not going out of your way to get women engaged here. Sorry but it's just seems a little lazy and thoughtless [and I'm a bloke saying that]
