East Anglia will play host to the climax of this year’s Tour Series, with Aylsham in Norfolk staging the penultimate round on Thursday 13 June and the grand finale taking place in Ipswich, Suffolk, the following evening.
The full line-up of venues for the 11-round series will be announced next week, although organisers have already revealed that Kirkcaldy will once again host the season opener on Tuesday 14 May, and that Torquay will be the venue of a round on Tuesday 28 May and Redditch on Tuesday 4 June. Once again, highlights will be shown on ITV4.
Both Aylsham and Ipswich are hosting the criterium racing series for the first time, and the back-to-back races are sponsored by local brewer Adnams, whose head of corporate affairs, Emma Hibbert, said: “Adnams is delighted to sponsor the final stages of The Tour Series.
“We know, through our support of the Tour of Britain in previous years, that cycling events are incredibly popular in Suffolk and Norfolk.
“The races in Aylsham and Ipswich promise to offer a thrilling spectacle as some of the country’s top teams battle it out in the concluding stages of The Tour Series.
“Adnams is proud to support these events which deliver real and tangible economic benefit for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk.”
Referring to that penultimate round in Aylsham, Barry Stone, Norfolk County Council's Cabinet member for Cultural Services, commented: "Norfolk has really embraced The Tour of Britain over the last three years and I have no doubt that we will also see large crowds heading to Aylsham on Thursday June 13 to enjoy The Tour Series."
Stuart Clancy, Broadland District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, added: “We are hugely honoured to be welcoming The Tour Series to Aylsham. I know the local business and resident community are extremely excited to play host to such a prestigious event. We will make it a day to remember!”
On the subject of that season finale in Ipswich, Councillor Colin Noble, Suffolk County Council's cabinet member for responsible for sport, said "It is fantastic news that Suffolk has been selected to host the final round of The Tour Series, one of UK cycling's most prestigious events.
“After such an exciting summer of sport in 2012, events like these continue to inspire people to get active themselves. I hope The Tour Series will encourage people to get out on their own bikes and help us on our way to making Suffolk the most active county in England."
Councillor Bryony Rudkin, Ipswich Borough Council's Culture & Leisure portfolio-holder, added: "This is going to be a great day for Ipswich. Following on from the start of The Tour of Britain last year and the growing popularity of SkyRide, cycling is attracting bigger audiences as well as getting more people out on their bikes.
"It's going to be a great summer for Ipswich as this is just one of the high-profile events we have here."

I dunno, I wouldn't call 15 miles from Norwich a particularly strenuous ride out if it's a nice day.
It won't be a nice day on the ride back - it'll be night, but I don't live in Norwich and the first x1 buses to/from Norwich don't usually allow bikes. 15 miles is a bit much of a walk.
a.jumper does have a point- Aylsham will be arse to get to from basically anywhere that isn't North Norfolk even by car, and without a car, even from the local area, not at all practical. Good for people that live in Aylsham, really not much use for even people in Norwich- unless the tourist railway comes to some sort of agreement, along with Greater Anglia, to run a useful service after the event.
Sorry - I'm still mourning the loss of the Peterborough round and Aylsham was about as close as they could have put a round but still be utterly inaccessible without a car! It's too far for me to ride, he narrow gauge doesn't run that late, there's one bus back to Norwich after the race is likely to finish and that's all. Norfolk's biggest venue - the Showground - couldn't cope with the tour of Britain last year. What are they thinking??? Barry Stone needs his bumps read.
Norfolk county council seems to view cyclists as a nuisance to hide away. The tour de France goes to Cambridgeshire's county city - but Norfolk shove bike racing into the back of beyond.
I have it on reasonably good evidence that there will be a round in Canary Wharf on Thursday 6th June...
Blimey. Does anyone ever have anything positive to add on this site? Road.CC could announce free Cervelo's for all readers and there'd immediately be some peevish comment on how rich Cervelo are, how it's probably some kind of scam, and whether or not it could be swapped for a Trek. MAMLAHS. Middle aged men living at home still?
Aylsham is pretty quiet. I should know, my parents once lived there. I'm happy Norfolk is featuring again after the TOB as last time the county were pretty excited to have racing there.

Ha Ha, how true. I really "liked" this weeks Strava moan fest.
Oh, but moaning about people moaning is OK is it? Guess what, not everyone shares your sunny outlook on life. And jolly good thing too, as those are the sort of people who foresee recessions, see through spin, lies and performances which are too good to be true, and in this case predict transport issues that may very well turn out to be valid.
So shut your festering gob, you tit. Your type makes me puke, you vacuous, toffee-nosed, malodorous, pervert. (You did come here for abuse right?)
And, by the way, Cervelos suck.
Which simply goes to prove being happy is the best way, as there are enough miseries in the world to go round several times.
Actually moaning, carping and general nitpicking is a relatively recent phenomenon on here.
I remember when all this was fields full of people taking the piss in a whimsical post modernly ironic sort of a way.
Oh, and great link Ubercurmudgeon sadly let down by the 15 seconds that I'll never get back at start being subjected to an ad for Music for cars by a bunch of witless fops called The 1975… or was that your intention? Harsh if so.
Aylsham? At the far end of a narrow gauge line off a branch line... Car traffic will probably be horrendous. Tempted to go to Ipswich instead, even though it's much further.
