Shane Sutton aims to be working at Glasgow World Cup this weekend after release from hospital

British Cycling head coach back home recuperating after being knocked off bike last week

British Cycling head coach Shane Sutton is now at home recovering from the injuries he received last week when he was knocked off his bike by a car in Manchester. The Australian was released from hospital on Saturday and hopes to be fit enough to enough to attend the Glasgow round of the World Cup this weekend.

Following Thursday morning’s incident, which happened just 15 hours after Bradley Wiggins had been injured when he was struck by a van - he Tour de France champion was himself kept in hospital overnight - the 55-year-old received treatment at Salford Royal Hospital for injuries including bleeding on the brain, but was released on Saturday morning, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The newspaper quoted a British Cycling spokeswoman as saying: “Shane is doing well. He was released from hospital on Saturday and is resting and recuperating at home. He is hoping to be in Glasgow for the World Cup on Saturday.”

According to the Manchester Evening News, police have interviewed the driver of the car involved in the incident and their enquiries are continuing.

Great news. I have been wondering about the driver though, as per your last sentence. There has been no word on what or how it happened or any sense of liability.
