Video: Three peaks comedy faceplant

We could spend our whole lunch break watching this

Nothing much to say about this really, just watch and enjoy this fantastically executed face plant. It's a perfect ten, we reckon. If anyone knows who Ian is, let us know and we'll send him some road.cc socks for his star turn...

Dave is a founding father of road.cc, having previously worked on Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike magazines back in the day. He also writes about e-bikes for our sister publication ebiketips. He's won three mountain bike bog snorkelling World Championships, and races at the back of the third cats.

I just had a nice chat to ian on the phone and I've bundled him up a jersey and some socks to go in the post. He's unsure about his new celebrity status but deffo being a good sport about it. Yesterday when we put the story up the vid had received 134 views, now it's on 11,000... who knows, it might 'do a Joey' 1

I second that. I took a look at this years photos! Oh man it looked extra extra tough due to the weather conditions. Hats of to Ian and all who entered and finished.

Somebody tweeted yesterday that CX was all about taking part and getting a funny photo of yourself on the Internet. If that is true; Ian is a legend! 1

That's a brand new Crosslight Pro6 that he's riding [well 'not riding']. Disc brakes are good, but sometimes they just can't save you!

The "here's mud in your eye" line every time he goes down the pub with his mates is going to get tired pretty soon I reckon 3

Hey, we found him! he's a mate of Ashton from Hope.

Ashton wrote:

I notice that you are trying to discover the identity of the star of the 3 Peaks face plant video that you have featured on the front page of the website. He is a friend of mine called Ian Ashworth (race number 333) and it was his first time at the 3 Peaks race. I’ve just called him to let him know about his new found fame and he had no idea that the video had even been uploaded to You Tube!!! It was filmed the son of one of our friends, whose dad was also doing the race.

Guess he should've carried his bike over that soft bit like the others.

Having gone over the bars in a race a few weeks ago and knackered my wrist in the process I'm glad to see Ian had a softer, if wetter, landing.
