At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

Creux Cycling's Omerta T-shirt is a lightweight treated cotton t-shirt that's perfect for a casual ride where you don't want to end up hot and sticky.

Creux (and others) use dri-release, a treated cotton, which allows designs to be printed on the t-shirt.

This shirt is comfortable and works well as a cycling to work t-shirt or just wearing at the weekend.

The fit is on the looser side of a medium, but that fits with the design of the t-shirt. The print itself is a nicely done screen print and washes well with no lifting as you might get with a transfer.

The handle of the fabric is soft and very comfortable against the skin and is also a bit cooler than medium weight merino.

One of the days I rode home was cool and there was a very heavy downpour about halfway. No nearby shelter so I kept going briskly. I got a bit warm in the t-shirt and a cotton rain jacket.

I would happily wear the t-shirt all day, having ridden to work in it, but not use it a second day as you can with merino.

The rear pocket is well designed, holding items securely, but they need to be lightweight ones. A couple of keys or an identity pass are ideal. A wallet or bunch of keys or a phone are too heavy for the cotton to hold stably when cycling.

Despite claims to be a slimmer fit, this is no race cut top.

It is a well made and comfortable t-shirt, which doesn't smell or feel too damp after a fast ride to work.

If a cycling themed t-shirt is suitable workwear then this is a good choice, but I didn't find it as good as a merino t-shirt for commuting. However I do like the logo and it makes a nice change.

Verdict

Handy, good-quality, non-stinky t-shirt that you can wear all day.

road.cc test report

Make and model: Creux Cycling Omerta T-shirt

Size tested: Medium

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

All Creux cycling t-shirts have been designed to make your ride as comfortable as possible. This includes repositioning the side seams for reduced abrasion and the adjustment of fit and length to accommodate your hunched cycling position, whilst also including a button up rear pocket for your bits and bobs.

Most importantly we've used a specially formulated, dri-release, technical fabric that functions like performance sportswear whilst completely maintaining the look and feel of a regular tee.

Tell us some more about the technical aspects of the product?

Slimmer fit tee so you're not needlessly flapping in the wind

Shaped hem for a better cycling fit

Side seams moved rearward for increased comfort

Rear welt pocket with button fastening for your bits and bobs

Crew neck shape

Dri-Release moves sweat and moisture from the skin, through the fabric and releases it into the air 4x faster than 100% cotton

FreshGuard fibres virtually eliminates odours from garments

Rate the product for quality of construction:

8/10

Branding tape loop is annoying, otherwise great.

Rate the product for performance:

7/10

Dries quickly and stays comfortable, but not as good as merino.

Rate the product for durability:

8/10

Washes well and the design hasn't peeled off after a few runs through the washing machine.

Rate the product for comfort, if applicable:

8/10
Rate the product for value:

6/10

Good value compared to merino, but Morvelo sell graphic designs on dri-release t-shirts £10 cheaper than iLsoigneur are selling the Creux t-shirts for, although this might be AUS to UK exchange rate related.

Tell us how the product performed overall when used for its designed purpose

Works well as a single day ride to work top for up to 8-10 mile rides each way.

Tell us what you particularly liked about the product

The quality of the prints is really good. I like the crank one a lot. The omerta one isn't my taste, but it is well printed. I also liked the soft feel of the material on my skin.

Tell us what you particularly disliked about the product

The tape loop branding on the lower left at the front is annoying. It catches on your fingers when you put hands in jean pockets and across your front. The problem is that the loop is really quite long and not attached at the hem; it should to be stitched in all the way around.

It is good for a single day, which is fine as a top to be worn all day, but if you ride to work in one top and need to change into something else then this is a less good choice. It may have clever technology to make it more comfortable than simple cotton, but it is still a cotton t-shirt in essence.

Did you enjoy using the product? Yes.

Would you consider buying the product? Maybe, would depend on the graphics.

Would you recommend the product to a friend? Yes.

Overall rating: 7/10

Thanks for the review guys, some really useful points to feedback to the fellas at Creux.

You were right about the price reflecting the duty and shipping, but we've taken your concerns into account and now offer the tees at £37.50, which I think is extremely competitive.

You can also try before you buy at Condor Cycles, and Ronde, Edinburgh. They are so good and I believe the review reflects that well.

Not sure what is meant about "a pro-doping teeshirt" its all about the Omerta and debunking the myth that is the code of silence.

Creux are a great set of guys and are set to bring a great range of well designed, well thought through cycling apparel to the UK. An alternative to the existing players.

Always good to have a choice.

We have plenty other great designs on offer @ www.ilsoigneur.cc

Thanks again.

The design on this gets a big thumbs up from me, but at £42:50 for a T-shirt I'm more than a bit hesitant to buy it online without first trying it on.

+1, I'm struggling to see myself buying this, even if, subject aside, it looks quite cool.

A pro-doping t-shirt? Takes all sorts I guess.
