Close Pass Initiative, The Daily Mail take

The Daily Mail Online have produced an article on Dorset Police Force and their introduction of the Close Pass Initiative.

I really lose hope for society when I read the comments on cycling articles published by the Daily Mail

It must be extremely wearing to be that angry about everything that you need to post in the DM comments section surprise

Perhaps the drivers caught close passing should have to attend a course instead getting a fine? A close pass from a police interceptor on a closed circuit might be more beneficial for a few of them than any financial punishment.

Amazing the number of people commenting on Daily Fail articles that have a strong wish for the Police to catch those breaking the law, just so long as it's not the laws "I" break while in my car..... and comments about "passing too close by accident" scare me, surely a driver controls the car and passes at a distance chosen by them

I  thought I would have a laugh and read some of the comments, so far this is my favorite

"Merseyside police farce did nothing when a cyclist riding on the pavement collided with my car as i was turning into a factory off a roundabout."

Sounds like this driver was incredibly lucky not to face a dangerous driving charge if they hit a cyclist who was on the pavement 1

Confused by this one . .  was the cyclist on the pavement ? Meaning the driver was therefore driving (illegally) on the pavement or was the cyclist on a road, as roundabouts rarely feed traffic onto a pavement ?
Sounds like Mr Driver is rather confused about what happened, and is instead telling half a story, a friend mentioned hearing from a mate down the pub (after a few pints), that he'd heard someone on the Mailonline mention in a comment about something with a vague connection to a cyclist.

I've got a DM ranty twat down my street, was on his horn behind me on Monday because I was 'in the middle of the road' as I was passing a parked up Luton box van. He stops ahead to give me a load of grief to which I give him a "fuck off you stupid old cunt", I cycle on, he overtakes and then reverses back threateningly, I cycle past and my street is literally 75m on.

I notice he drives past me, I saunter down to the bottom of the street and say to him, now what are you going to do now you can threaten me with your motor. Gives it the 'I've got it all on video, you were in the middle of the road' BS. I tell him to learn the HC and that I'm perfectly within my rights to cycle wherever I want. He says he' going to call the police, I said good luck because you'll be waiting ages but I tell him my address and encourage him to send the rozzers round so we can see what a dangerous fucktard he is.

I was tempted to leave him a present on hgis windsscreen, a blown up print of the HC and the law but DM ranty wankers like that aren't interested in the law, they have their own set of rules and governments are only too happy to legisitimise their actions by doing fuck all to change it.

I wouldn't worry. Those mouth-breathers would fit the cattle prod and then forget about it and zap themselves every time they got into/out of their vehicle.

The Bristol Post ran a story the other day - a bloke dressed in a hi viz jacket had lain down by a bike at the side of the road, and then when someone stopped to check on him he attacked them with a hammer.  Remember: according to the Post he was a cyclist and therefore was reflecting badly on all other people riding bikes around Bristol.  When I last looked at their front page they had 76 comments, and the first few I read were all about how this proved that cyclists were dangerous, they needed regisdtration, etc etc.  Nothing on how incredibly newsworthy it was that a motorist had stopped to check if a cyclist was alright.

Clearly the Post's website is overspill from the Mail...

The Daily Mail is an embarrassment, mostly because it reflect the views of so many people.

"Ban cyclists from public roads, its the only sensible solution to a problem that will only get worse in we don't."
More cars on the road - that is the solution !

I know I shouldn't of but I did (in a Victorians visiting the madhouse to be entertained by the gibbering ravings of the wretched inmates sort of way) go and look at the comments section on this DM story.

If you want to know where that tiny majority of motorists who seem hell bent on intimidating you with their horns and deliberate close pass stupidity spend their internet minutes, then here they are, quite literally like flies on shit. Absolutely raving bonkers and many of these unpleasant lunatics hold driving licences!

Inspired, can I propose that we now call the comments section of the DM Bedlam (or Bethlam Royal  to use it's proper name) after the infamous asylum where Victorians would entertain themselves watching the "gibbering ravings of the wretched inmates".

Isn't it ironic that the core DM readership voted in the George and David club who have demolished every Police Force in the country, you reap what you sow.

Our PM was at the helm when these cuts were made, and even Maggie didn't go after the boys in blue

Wasn't that because Maggie was using the police as her private enforcers?

Certainly during the miners strike

And in turn, she looked after them (S Yorks) over Hillsborough. Fucking sick.

I would not have believed it possible, but the Daily Mail seems to have moved even further to the right since Dacre resigned.   Its readers are hysterical fascists.
