Women not using a particular public place is a sure sign that this place is perceived as unsafe. To such an extend this can serve as a metric to determine where improvement is most needed.

Absolutely. In North Surrey, women are at least as numerous as men walking on the footways; but men far outnumber women cycling on  the roads.

I live near that road and cycle along it daily,  ridiculously stupid place to try and overtake. he only has a few seconds between the traffic island he's just passed and the pedestrian crossing ahead. It was never going work. If he knew the road, he'd know a few seconds ahead it widens with room for a cycle lane (albeit just paint). Driver should be off the road, that was as close to killing someone as you'd ever want to see.

JHC, that really was close, and that lorry driver needs educating, if necessary with a baseball bat.  Have the owners responded?  Perhaps trucks that big don't belong on narrow city streets?

Glad to see Domino's filling in potholes, should last longer than whatever they're being filled with now.
