Bike LIVE Cannock: take a look at the bikes Marin are bringing for you to test ride

With just a mater of days until our Bike LIVE event village takes over Cannock Chase we thought it'd be a good time to show you exactly which of their 2017 models Marin are going to be bringing for you to have a play on around the various tracks. It's a real spread of machines too so know matter what terrain you favour there is bound to be something here to excite you.

Gestalt 3

First up is the Gestalt 3, a bike that makes up part of Marin's 'Beyond Road' range with its relaxed geometry, tough aluminium frame and huge tyre clearances making it ideal if you fancy a bit of mixed terrain on your ride. Flitting between tarmac and gravel for instance or investigating that firm bridleway that has always caught your eye.

Mat reviewed it here back in August and described it as, "A very capable aluminium rugged road bike that's versatile enough for weekday commuting and weekend adventures." 

Coming specced with Schwalbe's excellent S-One 30mm (we reviewed the tubeless version here) tyres the Gestalt will happily take full mudguards for plenty of year round, wet weather protection but you can squeeze up to 35mm knobbly's on there for a bit of off-road fun too.  The rest of the list is pretty good too with a 1x SRAM Rival groupset and hydraulic disc brakes.

With dry weather predicted for Saturday conditions should be great for testing this one on the road and gravel circuits we've got lined up.

Four Corners

Continuing the cross over theme of today's bikes is Marin's Four Corners which is described as a weekday commuter and weekend tourer.

It has a 4130 butted chromoly steel frame and fork which are designed to handle fully loaded touring, with three bottle mounts, rack and mudguard eyelets, up front you also get lowrider fork mounts so that you can really load this machine up for a two wheeled adventure. 

It comes as standard with large 40mm Schwalbe Silento tyres mounted to Marin's own double-walled wheel rims for extra strength.

Shimano's Sora takes care of the drivetrain offering a 50/39/30 triple chainset which when paired with the 9spd 11-32 toothed cassette gives a 500% range according to Marin. With all that go and loaded weight you'll find Promax mechanical discs too front and rear to slow you down.

Pine Mountain

The Pine Mountain is a real hark back to the early days of Marin with its hardtail frame and rigid fork up front, we're loving its simplistic looks.

Retro design apart though you'll find this bike is bang up to date running on 27.5+ wheels, SRAM GX 1x groupset and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. The gearing offers a decent spread for most eventualities sporting a 32 tooth chainring and a 10spd 11-42 tooth Suntour cassette at the rear.

The 4130 grade steel frame and fork also has three bottle cage mounts plus fitting space for full mudguards and rack mounts meaning it could easily be pressed into commuting or adventure duties if you prefer to go off-road or just the draw of flat bars.

Attack Trail

There are three models in the Attack Trail range with the PRO model pictured being Marin's flagship Enduro bike.

A full-carbon QUAD-Link 3.0 frame with 150mm rear travel, SRAM X01 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, RockShox Pike RCT3 fork with 160mm travel, and a custom tuned RockShox Monarch Plus Debonair rear shock with rebound and compression adjustment make up the heart of the bike with Stan's NoTubes Flow Mk3 Pro, tubeless-ready rims take care of the rolling.

The rest of the spec list includes a KS LEV Integra dropper post with internal routing, Deity DC31 Mohawk carbon bar and Gamut Cillos stem round out the cockpit, while SRAM's Guide RS disc brakes with Centerline rotors.

The other models in the range come with an aluminium alloy frame.

Mount Vision 8

The Mount Vision range is part of Marin's full suspension trail line up with the 8 model pairing a carbon monocoque front triangle with an aluminum alloy rear.

RockShox suspension front and rear suspension takes care of the bounce with 140mm of travel up front and 57mm at the rear, while Shimano's  Deore XT 1x11-speed drivetrain transmits your power to the ground.

You'll find Schwalbe's tyres as standard here again mounted to Stan's Flow Mk3 tubeless rims plus with Shimano's XT brakes offering 180mm rotors front and rear slowing down shouldn't be a problem.

It is about 25 miles north of central Birmingham and about nine miles from the M6 motorway. There is plenty of parking along with toilets and a café. Cannock Chase has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a mix of natural woodland, coniferous plantations and open heathland.

When? 

Bike Live Cannock Chase takes place on Saturday, 8 April 2017. 

It starts at 9:30am and you can stay right through until 4:30pm.
