See.Sense, the manufacturer of our People’s Choice ‘Rear Light of the Year’ last year, has raised over £400,000 of a £500,000 funding goal via CrowdCube in its latest round of investment.
The USP of See.Sense lights is that they gauge your motion, orientation, ambient light and car headlights and then use this information to adjust their brightness and speed of flash. The idea is that they become more prominent in situations when there is greater danger.
Their latest product, the ICON light, also pairs with a smartphone, providing additional features such as theft and crash alerts.
The Northern Ireland based firm has twice run Kickstarter campaigns, raising £114,000 via 1,400 backers. The CrowdCube campaign now allows people to become part-owners of See.Sense by investing anything from £10 upwards.
As well as gaining equity in the firm, investors are being given the opportunity to receive special ‘money can’t buy’ rewards.
‘Green Jersey’ rewards will see people given a tour of the factory. ‘Polka Dot King of the Mountain’ rewards will see investors taken on a scenic trip of Northern Ireland, taking in the Giro d’Italia route and Game of Thrones locations. Top level ‘Yellow Jersey’ rewards bring a cycling city break to either Amsterdam or Copenhagen.
See.Sense CEO, Philip McAleese commented:
“We have been overwhelmed at the response of the campaign so far, we have some hugely innovative new products in the pipeline and we’re inviting our community – the people who use and love our products – to help us grow.”
See.Sense has nearly doubled its revenues year on year and was recently featured in the London Design Museum’s Cycle Revolution Exhibition.
