The annual Hammersmith Cyclists’ Film Show will expand to two shows for 2016. Films to be shown include A History of Cycling on Film and Jacques Anquetil : The Man, The Mystery, The Legend.
Show one will be at Regent Street Cinema on January 31 from 1pm to 5pm. The theme is Cycle Sport: Film from the Archives. The films being shown include Notebook from the 2012 Tour de France by Ray Pascoe, who is best known for his two films about Tom Simpson who he met when racing in Belgium as a youngster; and Alf Engers aka The King – another Pascoe film.

A History of Cycling on Film will also be shown in the first show and that will be followed by an interview with Barrie Witcomb, formerly of Witcomb Cycles, who appears in a clip from 1966.

Show two, Kings of the Hour, will be at Phoenix Cinema East Finchley on February 7 from 1.30pm to 5pm. As well as On Yer Bike, focusing on Graeme Obree; and The Final Hour, which centres on Chris Boardman; the show will feature a Philip Kohly film, entitled Jacques Anquetil : The Man, The Mystery, The Legend. This will be followed by an interview with Anquetil’s super-domestique Vin Denson – the first British rider to win a stage of the Giro d’Italia in 1966.
