Video: Airbag cycling helmet deploys - as rider puts coat on

Hovding's makers claim innovative product is quick to react - they weren't kidding...

How quickly does the Hovding inflatable cycle helmet from Sweden deploy itself? Well, the answer is "very" judging by this Instagram video - although it may be a bit too sensitive as it is triggered by a cyclist putting his coat on.

- Swedish company unveils airbag cycle helmet (+ video)

The man in the video - posted to Instagram a few months back, but flagged up on Twitter today by @Cyclegaz - takes it all in his stride, although for a moment it appears he's about to go into a Basil Faltyesque crouch strop.

The airbags in my car don't deploy when I put on my coat. And I don't wear a helmet indoors.

But you do wear a helmet when you drive your car? I think that's what he meant.

Those poor buggers at Hovding must be wondering how to recycle the warehouses full of the things.

Oh THANK YOU for finding this - I saw it first time round, but could never find it again.

I will never, ever tire of showing this to idiots who think you should make money by  dangerising cycling.

Me too. It needs a permanent link on road.cc so we can find it again (and again, and again).
