Solid leg warmers for a very reasonable price, but they would be better if there was a little less of them

At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

Lusso's Cooltech Leg Warmers work well on cooler days, but riders with shorter legs might struggle with the length.

I tested these legwarmers alongside Lusso's matching arm warmers, which I found to be on the longer side. This worked great for my longer, thinner arms, and when it comes to the legs, Lusso's design ethos seems to be more of the same.

To make the Cooltechs fit well, I found I had to pull the tops of the warmers quite high up my thighs. I never experienced any serious discomfort when riding with them high on my leg, but it did feel slightly odd. I think you need to be careful when dressing in a hurry, otherwise they could be uncomfortable, even more so for riders with shorter limbs.

Like the arm warmers, the fabric is on the thinner side, with a Lycra outer and a waffle fleece inner. This works well at keeping you warm and manages to keep you from getting overly sweaty to boot. The top grippers are made from a wide Lycra band, with a silicone type material to ensure the warmers stay where you put them.

At the other end I found there was slightly too much material, leading to a bit of bagginess. It wasn't really an issue, as the length of the Cooltechs mean you can take up this bagginess by tucking them into your socks.

Price-wise, 25 quid is pretty good value for Lusso's offering. It's what I've spent on similar garments in the past and these have performed in much the same fashion.

In many ways these leg warmers have been great. They've kept me warm on chillier days, and they fit reasonably well. I think they could be marginally shorter; that would make them even better in my book.

Verdict

Solid leg warmers for a very reasonable price, but they would be better if there was a little less of them

Being someone of longer legs, usually disappointed by legwear 'coming up short' these might be the leg warmers for me .....

I have a pair of Lusso roubaix legwarmers and found the same - they are particularly long but perfectly adequate in other respects.
