Waiting to cross at some lights as a pedestrian (cross roads junction) on Monday lunchtime. Watched one driver go through on amber and two on red right in front of a police car… The police car just drove off – after waiting for the rljs to clear the junction 🙁

Had the fitting today and it was a very interesting experience.

Saddle has been raised 5cm!! :S

Felt brilliant on the trainer and is way beyond anything I would have tried.

Foot issue has been diagnosed as extremely tight specific muscles in my calf and details are going to emailed to me so I can share with a local sports massage lady for targeted treatment. Have also been given instructions on pedalling technique.

Great service from Athlete Services in Henley – very informative and friendly and very reasonable price.

Thanks. I did try 105 pedals and road shoes first, but had the same issues.

Have booked myself in for a bike fit in a couple of weeks.

I bought some padded gloves as I was getting pains on the outside edge of my palms – they felt like they were bruised and it interfered with changing down gears. Have had no troubles or pains since 🙂

I had this with a 205. I solved it by deleting the device from Garmin Express and then adding it back as a new device. Hope you get it sorted.

    I recently tried chamois
I recently tried chamois cream for the first time (Chapeau menthol) and it appears that I’m allergic to something in it 🙁 Had some pretty uncomfortable skin damage in some intimate areas. Used it a few times before I made the connection. Liberal application of Sudocrem is slowly clearing it up.

As a recent newcomer too (and also with a bit of a running background), I’d say go for the best kit you can afford – unless you enjoy buying new shiny bits and tinkering.

I bought a Tiagra and FSA equipped Felt for under £600 just over a year ago and now pretty much everything except the frame and forks has been upgraded.

I wasn’t sure if I would get the bug but the bugger bit deep 🙂

    Have fun!

Good move on the Kool Stop
Good move on the Kool Stop pads for the 105 brakes. I replaced my front brake with a 105 5800 and the stock pads were abusing the rims something terrible. I was digging lumps of aluminium out of them after every ride. Replaced with Kool Stop pads and no issues since.

Just back from the LBS. inline adjuster is knackered 🙁 Skilled mechanic was able to set the tension in the cable correctly though so all is working again 🙂

Adjuster will be replaced at next service.

Cheers Mike. I’ll look into the pad change.

No offence taken hsiaolc as you are totally right! His panic braking was due to following me too closely and not expecting me to stop at a junction.

I’ve been slowly moving my saddles forward to get my butt on the wide bit rather than sitting on the nose and getting pressure on the soft tissue. Knees are way forward of the pedal spindle, but it is more comfortable for me. Recently added a very slight nose down tilt too and that is also helping.

Should add that I do spend most of my riding time on the drops.
