And we have to share the roads with these morons…
Yeah, but see it from their point of view…

I’d like to say that I’m
I’d like to say that I’m behind this, but I just don’t feel that I have any personal connection with Mike. I totally support what he’s doing, but it’s not where I live and all I’ve seen is media reports on him, so it feels disingenuous for me to do anything except provide internet comment support (or maybe chuck in a donation if he needs a camera upgrade etc).
(I’m also not a fan of the honours system, but that’s not a deal-breaker)

All they needed to do was change one letter; “Car Driven Past Road Closed Sign Into Hole”.It’s in the U.S. which is even more firmly under the thumb of the automobile, so I have low expectations on how their media reports crashes.

As I understand it, the drivers are furious about his garden ornaments. He calls them his elves, but that’s just a common misgnomer.February 9, 2022 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Residents on ‘dangerous’ Bristol road call for change after two injured in car crash #988905

He says that later – I didn’t quote the entire article (fair-use or something or other)
“The irony in all of it is they put the crossing in because it’s a busy road but they haven’t done anything about the parking.“So that busy road is now even busier because of double parking,” he said.

I recently rode through a street near London’s Docklands, all new builds, all empty; a security guard told me they’d all been bought by a Malaysian syndicate who were just holding them as an investment and didn’t want the bother of tenants. Stopping that sort of thing would be a good start. That’s Capitalism for you – houses as a means of building capital rather than housing glorious workers.

They say one thing and do completely the opposite. So depressing. With politicians and people in power, don’t listen to what they say, but watch what they do (e.g. holding parties whilst telling everyone else to not mingle)

I found the language a bit
I found the language a bit distracting with “you know” and “like” all over the place, but it’s an informal chat so I’ll cut it some slack.
I’m not sure that I agree with his closing comment as I think that self-driving cars will be feasible at some point, but time will tell. Although amusing, it’s a poor analogy because there’s only so much that you can do with horse breeding, but computer hardware has already been exponentially improved over the decades (more computing power in a modern phone than a PC of 10-20 years ago).

( I don’t think I’m an evil hate-filled commie, or anything like that, but YMMV).
To be fair, The Gradunai is going to have much better quality reporting on cars/bikes/environment than the BBC.

I’m still using a Proviz
I’m still using a Proviz rucksack that’s now looking quite battered, but it’s still highly reflective. I had some gloves, but my skin didn’t like the rubber material on the cuffs, so they got binned. Also got a coat, but it’s a terrible fit so that never gets used.
They’re a brand with one good idea and lots of questionable decisions.
