How is that possible? Surely, a parking ticket would be appropriate if nothing else.

Lucky that no-one was “working” in the garden with lots of colleagues.

It shows that sometimes those that shout loudest are simply loud – they don’t speak for us.

I’m starting to think that I should bump up the pressure in my tyres after reading the comments. I’m running 28mm GP5000TLs tubeless and I aim for around or just below 70psi. I usually let them drop air pressure over time and so quite often ride around on approx 60psi.

(Just weighed myself and *gulp* just gone over 100kgs)

I did stop at a red light

I did stop at a red light yesterday – does that count?

(Had an e-scooterist go straight through it, but I overtook him soon enough when I got the green)

I’m sure you know, but Pro

I’m sure you know, but Pro Ones are known to be delicate, so maybe try out the tubeless GP5000s if you want the benefits of tubeless with a bit more robustness.

I’ve managed to cover just over 2000km running tubeless (32mm Conti GP5000’s) without a puncture as far as I can tell. The whole time I was carrying a tube etc. but have just bought a Ruzer repair kit instead. Was wondering whether to pack a cheap pair of nail clippers to trim the ends of the plug strip if necessary…but by the sounds of it, probably not necessary?

I carry a tube and a repair kit as a big tyre cut would need more than an anchovy. It also means that you can give a tube to a cyclist in need.

The defending barrister blaming death on the boyfriend for getting her to ride a bike is the stunning take away quote from that article for me.

I can understand a defense barrister trying their utmost to get justice for their client, but I’d consider that kind of blame to be trying to pervert the course of justice, myself. You might as well blame her mum for giving birth to her – “she would never have been driven over and killed if she hadn’t been born at a very early age”.

She did……. for the cyclists she decided to overtake on the blind bend. It was the oncoming cyclists she didn’t “care about” giving space to.

If only the Highway Code had recommendations about that:

Before overtaking you should make sure:

    • the road is sufficiently clear ahead
    • give way to oncoming vehicles before passing parked vehicles or other obstructions on your side of the road

Again – overtaking on a blind bend would be a fail on a driving test – surely experienced drivers should be expected to not make such an obvious mistake. Quite why it doesn’t count as careless/dangerous is beyond me.

    That’s the problem with

That’s the problem with relying just on a jury’s opinion of careful driving and why I think we need driving cases to require expert testimony from driving instructors/examiners.

Tailgating a cyclist would fail a driving test, so it can’t be acceptable as “careful driving”.
