I haven’t had any issues with KMC 11 speed links yet and I just re-use them each time I swap/clean my chain (about every 2 weeks or so with paraffin wax).

It should occur to you, sweetie, that people are very different and make very different choices. For example, some people actually have the money to try out gizmos that may well be less-than-perfect, for what they don’t consider a load of money, and are OK with that particular life choice, because of their other life choices. It should also occur to you that YOUR English isn’t that great. By now it should be dawning on you that YOU’RE a lot thick.luiandlui wrote:davel wrote:luiandlui wrote:Anybody who has a half decent smartphone and then goes out and spends money on a dedicated gps unit of any make is utterly nuts. I use my Iphone 7 on a quad-lock mount. I spent £20 on an external battery which gives me a range of around 500km. Also, using Ride with GPS is massively, massively better than any Garmin I have ever seen.aw, someone on the internet says I’m utterly nuts.
The idea of having my phone out in all weather, with me punching its screen , sometimes with gloved, unfeeling fingers, and then not being able to use it as a phone because its battery is mullered, really doesn’t appeal to me.
Ah but a mobile charger/external battery pack, you cry!
Another bit of gadgetry to solve only one of the above problems? No ta.
The other problems aren’t problems. Most smartphones now are waterproof so the weather isn’t an issue. I’m not sure why you want to spend riding time “punching” the screen of your phone.
If you want to spend a load of money on an utterly crap product when you have a much better solution in your pocket then go for it, but don’t be surprised when “someone on the internet” thinks your a bit thick.
Ah, grammatical corrections. The last hope of someone who long ago lost an argument.
“long ago lost” is a split verb
I think you meant a “split infinitive”, which it isn’t (there’s no “to” used). I don’t see anything wrong with his grandma.

I can’t wait until we get autonomous cars to give these people an alternative. That sentence is a joke; it should be an immediate license revocation for hitting someone like that.

My favourite energy booster
My favourite energy booster is the Nature Valley Protein bars. They’re a lot cheaper, gluten free and don’t melt in your back pocket (unless you go for the chocolate variety).
Currently £1.44 for 4 x 40g bars.

Unless you have a detailed understanding of the case and the law that lies behind it, it’s out of order to be throwing dirt like that around.To be fair, an internet forum is exactly the right place to throw dirt around (whether true or not).
I think you’ll find lots of posts on here that make strong accusations.

I recommend the ProViz 360 rucksack: https://www.provizsports.com/en-gb/reflect360-cycling-backpack.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw6NjNBRDKARIsAFn3NMp0MowU-yU3f_0UQE6ngI4kFnkYyvTUrDiwrNhoH-8QGoqLXRxPROcaAhdcEALw_wcB#fo_c=1091&fo_k=b13809a845ce2c0459cddbdaed4aefcf&fo_s=gplauk
I typically have a change of clothes, waterproof trousers, an iPad, a lunchbox and usually some shopping as well.

It might be worth having a look at the latest Cannondale Synapse range. Although it’s considered to be more endurance than racy, they’re more racy than most of the endurance geometries.
I did consider buying a Whyte Wessex but ended up getting a Genesis Zero instead which doesn’t fit bigger tyres (though I did put some 30mm tyres on it) or have mudguard eyelets.

@davel – I didn’t pick up on
@davel – I didn’t pick up on your “research” jibes and I just took them at face value. Maybe I’m easily triggered as I’ve spent too much time arguing with conspiracy theorists that were complete fuckwits. (Top tip – ask flat earthers why the moon looks upside down from Australia).
I can’t believe you just told dottigirl to fuck off. Shame on you.

@davel – I think you missed
@davel – I think you missed my point. I don’t care about Greece and their financial plight and you may well be right. It’s the complete lack of references/sources and then asking people to do research that bugs me.
Right, now I’ll fuck off.

Research which vampire squid of a bank has its ex-employees scattered throughout the EU and helped Greece cook its books to enable membership. Research the key reasons that the troika held Greece’s hand to the fire during debt and Grexit ‘discussions’, and where the banks that hold the debt are based. Research what has happened to the Greek employment, suicide, HIV and AIDS rates (mainly among the young ‘uns) since the credit crisis Then you might not put the blame at Greece’s door in such a simplistic manner.I hate it when people post about “do your own research”. This is a well known tactic used by conspiracy buffs to hoodwink people with poor researching skills into believing a whole load of tripe (e.g. chemtrails, flat earth, electric pyramids etc).
If you’ve done any research and have knowledge, then share it around, otherwise shut up about it.

There’s been a shocking
There’s been a shocking development in this case – the people in the house are in possession of at least one pedal cycle.
This doesn’t look good for them. The father has admitted that he was not looking at the road at the time of the incident and the house was not fitted with brakes, brake-lights or even a steering wheel. The prosecution is going to be looking at why the home-owners were unable to move out of the way of the car, and also why the house had NEVER passed an MOT.
Some back-benchers are already calling for a change to the law to ensure that all houses within close proximity to a road, must be fitted with appropriate wheels so that the owners can avoid hitting cars.

The latest news on this
The latest news on this incident is that the house-owner is now being sued for having an unsafe wall and lack of suitable parking notices. Also, there is reasonable suspicion that the inhabitants may have been using mobile phones at the time of the incident.

I just read some more about this. Apparently the police were first on the scene and have breathalysed the family in the house and have questioned them as to why they weren’t wearing helmets or hi-viz as it would have been virtually impossible for the car to have seen them.
I think the Daily Wail is reporting it as “car hit by family as they watch X-Factor and pay no attention”.
