Garmin ripping us off

I have for many years been a massive Garmin fan. Used many product no real issues, great replacement service. After a few years of almost constant daily use my edge 1000 has given up the ghost. The screen isn’t working at all. Having tried a few things only to find nothing works but the bullet and rang Garmin. It has recently gone up from 90 quid for a refurb to nearly 200.

Bloody terrible. Anyone have a good alternative to Garmin. I use the map screen quite a lot. The other basic metrics I guess are standard.

    Cheers for any suggestions.

Now you can get a quarter

Now you can get a quarter turn mounts for phones and the phones themselves are waterproof, I’m not sure I’d bother with another Garmin once this Edge 800 goes pop.

    Seems lots of Garmin fanbois

Seems lots of Garmin fanbois responding to your post.  A price increase like that is bonkers.

Certaintly haven’t looked back since I swapped my Garmin for a Wahoo (Elemnt).  Also ditched my car sat nav for waze app on the mobile phone.  Still got my ancient garmin gps for walking though, they used to make things that were rock solid, don’t know what changed.

Mine was one of the first

Mine was one of the first 1000’s. Still going strong after being battered and covering thousands of miles. Still doesn’t like the cold much though!

the repair price was 90 only s couple of months ago. they have not had a graduated increase over time but just bumped it up to nearly two hundred. Not sure how that can be justified.

Perhaps they’re ripping you off – perhaps people have been getting a bargain for ages. However if the head-unit has performed as you say – that’s pretty good going isn’t it ? Have you spoken to Garmin about it, to an actual human that is ?

Seriously considering the bolt, apparently they have in the last two months or so more than doubled their prices for returns at Garmin.

    Wahoo Elemnt bolt, mapping is

Wahoo Elemnt bolt, mapping is black and white and not to everyone’s taste but works for me when I’m doing a new route.  Also gives outstanding battery life.

Haven’t had a Garmin 520 or up so can’t compare but very happy I jumped brands.  There are lots of options!

    They’ve put the refurb price

They’ve put the refurb price up to £200? Bloody hell, that’s a massive jump.
