I am not aware of any harm from using it so if you think it works go for it.

As has been said – you don’t
As has been said – you don’t need discs. I’ve used rim brakes for decades and they work fine for me and I do descend faster than most.

Aero bikes look pretty but there’s no real world benefit – and I have one.

Deep rims wheels can be a bit of a pain in the bum. Recent years have been so windy that I’m happy to lose a bit of aero speed for a bit more stability in side winds. That’s what I’ve done anyway. I save deep rims for racing on now.

Weight isn’t that important unless all you do is climb hills and I’d you do that why have aero wheels ?

You don’t notice your bike being faster when you’ve drunk 500ml of fluid from the water bottle do you ?

Aero cockpits look nice but you need to be sure you have the set up right. Separate stems and bars don’t cost you any speed but can help with comfort.

Indeed that’s what I was trying to say. You’d expect a four pack to be cheaper per tin but it often isn’t there.

You don’t need a superbike to
You don’t need a superbike to take training seriously.
A £500 bike can let you train perfectly well. Wasn’t the BBAR champs bike 2nd hand and under a grand a year or two ago ?

Spend maybe a grand on a decent bike and get to see what you like or dislike about it. Then it can be your winter or bad weather bike when you decide what you really need on a bike.

Personally I’d not ride tubs again and I’d go etap.

Pro bikes aren’t necessarily the best but they’re paid to use them.

It’s not hard to price things on the internet. Just price check elsewhere.

I think all shops do similar things. Mars bars change in weight according to market forces. Tesco sell a 4 pack of beans for dearer than their buy three offers.

    It’s all over the place.

My routes take me through a sheep farm or a cattle farm. You need to wash the bike straight away before it dries. Hose under the mudguards and it blasts it all off.

I’m a Castelli fan – LS Gabba (now called Perfetto) and LS baa-baa base layer does me down to about 0C.  Below that the Alpha jacket with a SS baa-baa or the LS if it’s really cold.

I do tend to run hot though

I sold my gabba – was freezing in it in the rain in the summer ! Just shows we are all different !

Doing an hour with Zwift is very easy to do.
I’ve heard of people doing iron distance on a turbo but I’m not sure how beneficial that kind of thing is.
