I think there’s precedent for including any car hits any substantial permanent roadside object story.

There’s a prize of a table for two at The Farmers Dog (second prize, two tables) for driverless, speed limit, flashy car, clear conditions, no-one seriously hurt.

Nul points for any “should have gone to Specsavers” comments if it’s an opticians.

Pretty much all roads in the south lead to Argos, but beware some long lead times.

It does help to talk to them in person with the frame.  If it needs anything like Raleigh head badge holes filling in, broken threads fixing, or alignment work, it all adds up.

I mailed one to Mercian a few years ago – the shade was way off what I thought the swatch suggested, but it’s a good job otherwise.

Portsmouth: but I don’t know who does the work, or if it’s just as easy to go to a LBS nearer you. https://gcbikerepairs.com/pages/frame-resprays?

Powder coat Eastleigh – you may well have somewhere nearer.  A lot cheaper of course and I got a decent result with a steel lugged frame.  http://www.solentpowderfinishers.co.uk/contact/

please post back if you go ahead with anything

    Oh great, crash your car,

Oh great, crash your car, abandon it and let the emergency services and local lifeboat spend hours looking for you as well as clearing up the mess you made.

The article is so driverless it’s not even clear what they went out searching for.  “Why don’t they use the cycle lane?” for the bonus.

There’s video of this floating around on X – the driver reverses into the shop for his three-point turn, then goes forward, hits the parked Mini and then into the back of the bus.

Two very different towns Chippenham and Hanley introducing widespread parking restrictions, to improve the flow of motor traffic, and to protect bus and cycle lanes in Hanley. I can’t decide on this – part of me thinks parked and manoeuvring cars act as a kind of traffic calming, and buffering if you’re on the pavement.   But they have a habit of obstructing bike lanes – paint only type so of questionable benefit, and delaying buses.  I assume a red route means “no stopping and we mean it”?

On the specifics of the car-dependent take away, this always seems to me like a depressingly unhealthy lifestyle. I’m sure he doesn’t mean parking right outside the shop as there’s a pedestrian crossing just behind us here. Peeking up over the rooftops is a multi storey car park – not really relevant to the “I’ve just got to nip in here” hazard flasher parking, I guess.

No, Mr Editor, it really doesn’t.  Residents want the restrictions, drivers are whining about it.

On a nice cold crisp day, I know I’ll warm up within 15 minutes and be shedding a layer – but despite my head telling me this, in my heart I still find it hard to leave a warm bed/ house.

Drivers are always a worry.  I worry less about injury from taking a spill on ice or leaves because, after years of practice, I rate myself pretty good at falling off.

andystow – just looking at AccuWeather, you’ve had some serious cold, enough to make anyone stay indoors, and your temp forecast isn’t too far off ours this week – but most days, your humidity is in single figures. -14 deg C, 0% humidity today.
