A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Police to use ‘boy racer’ deterrent at Malvern Shopping Park
The Link and Dyson safer neighbourhood policing team are trying to secure funding to install new signage around the Malvern Shopping Park.
Last month, Facebook users were complaining about a noisy car meet at the site, which has now prompted intervention from the police.

* modern medicine can do so much to repair injury and reverse diseases and their effects. But – on the strength of one clinical presentation a few years ago – one hospital specialty you don’t want to be under is respiratory. They can do relatively little to repair lung damage – the best you can hope for is to stabilise optimise what lung function you have.

Oh! They are writing “dept” but mean “debt” and not “department”. That makes more sense now…

From my Facebook feed part 1. My favourite here is the “my brother says there are no emissions from old vehicles” bit – I guess all those people with respiratory conditions* must be wrong, then.

It’s not likely to be a fine
It’s not likely to be a fine but a Penalty Charge Notice, if the car park is a private one, as this one appears to be.
If you do not met the conditions of the contract you enter when parking in the car park, then the company have the right to request a fee from you, something which has been tested in court countless times with the vast majority of times, the company winning.
However, before it gets to court there is likely to be an independent challenge scheme which the driver can use if they believe they have a case to the PCN to be cancelled. If they chose not to take this route, and if they ignore any court paperwork including any judgement against them, then and only then will the matter be placed in the hands of debt collectors.
I note from Google Maps that the local Citizens Advice office is on Canal Street. May I suggest he pops in their and gets some advice before he ends up with a judgement against himself.

Great to hear you’re on the side of Mr Magoo. If his account is true, I can’t see how a court, if it ever gets to that, is going to find against him.
You might as well put sign up at a car park where certain of the pArkcos are active saying “O.K. Corral”. However, you look at the Callington example, daily driver ‘cheek’ is at first wearing then economically harmful, so you end up bringing one of them in.
Re: Debt collectors banging at the door. About 20 years ago somehow a c£100 debt was registered against me – it was either fraud or error. I think it may have been one of the glossy catalogue companies that was the fashion at the time. I remember the string of letters, each looking like it was from a different company – accountants, lawyers, etc but always the same basic message – the matter had been passed to them and please would I pay.
I did call a couple of them up early on, had a conversation that seemed to settle it, but still more letters came over the course of a year. That’s why I always preach “don’t bother” as regards trying to reason with them, it’s not about any of that.
Anyway, eventually it reached an actual debt collector with feet on the ground. I called a number which I think he’d posted through the door, had a good conversation (I.e. what I’d been saying all along) and that was the end of it. He wasn’t going to waste any more of his time, I surmise, on a fool’s errand.

RE Wlitshire Police article,
RE Wlitshire Police article, the last paragraph reads as follows
She said: “It doesn’t matter if you are in the car on your own, or with others, you must be completely focused on what you are doing and pay the road your full attention. One minor mistake can have massive consequences.”
I don’t think anyone on here would argue with that. Mr Loophole might though.
