Dorset trains: Crash between
Dorset trains: Crash between Wool and Weymouth stations
The crash happened between the Wool and Weymouth line on Friday evening, February 14 and left the fencing and equipment ruined.
Dorset Police said a white Mercedes had crashed into the level crossing barrier in Lewell Road, near Crossways.
Earlier, a man driving the Mercedes stopped to assist after coming across two men by a silver Ford Focus.
It appeared their vehicle had either broken down or been involved in a collision.
Police said the two men then removed the Mercedes driver from his car and attempted to drive off in the vehicle, before colliding with a barrier at a level crossing.

Disqualified motorist swears
Disqualified motorist swears she doesn’t need a licence or MOT to drive a car
A woman who had already been disqualified from driving insisted she did not need a licence or MOT when stopped by police officers. The driver, who refused to give her details when stopped at Truro, told Devon and Cornwall Police she did not require a driving licence, insurance or an MOT, among other essentials, in order for her to travel.
Her tax expired on May 1, 2024, and the MOT ran out on November 22. Devon and Cornwall Police No Excuses team said the driver was arrested and charged with a multitude of offences as a result.
The team posted to social media on February 3: “Driver of this car was adamant that she did not need a licence, insurance, MOT etc to allow her to travel. After refusing her details some detective work showed she was disqualified – she was arrested and has been charged with all offences #NoExcuse.”
Bad news, guys, the case has been listed to heard by Judge Donnison.

– Why are we even penalising / criminalising people who aren’t real criminals?
– Policing speed limits is a waste of limited police resources which they should be spending chasing real criminals / crime with serious consequences. Especially because everyone speeds sometimes. Same with automated speed cameras – like the police we don’t have resources to put them everywhere – so why not nowhere?

Driver got her own back on
Driver got her own back on bailiffs who clamped car
She was given six penalty points and a reduced fine
Bailiffed for having no insurance, the fairies broke the clamp off, she drove it uninsured and then…
Deputy District Judge Peter Donnison said: “This was an unusual and unfortunate incident.” He said Tulloch was remorseful and the offences out of character. It wasn’t a deliberate driving without insurance – “rather a lapse in payments because of complicated factors in life,” he added. Tulloch was fine £160 and told to pay costs of £85 and surcharge of £64.

Dawlish driver suffered
Dawlish driver suffered seizure before smashing into wall
He was only 20 minutes away from the motorway
A motorist who smashed into a wall after suffering a seizure at the wheel has vowed never to drive again. Mark Garwood crashed into the boundary of a residential property in Dawlish.
A check on the police national computer revealed his licence had previously been revoked due to his epilepsy and he should not have been driving. Garwood told a court he thought he was safe and legal to drive but the crash had made him think again.
The judge accepted it was not a deliberate decision to breach the rules
and fined him £160.Deputy district judge Peter Donnison said: “I find you are genuinely remorseful and this arose more out of oversight than a deliberate decision to breach the rules. You recognise the error you made on that night.”
The judge did not disqualify Garwood and added three penalty points. His licence is still revoked.

Further to A Look at Logical
Further to A Look at Logical Fallacies a couple of months ago. My theory is that the rise and persistance of mass motoring (along with climate science denial, how much plastic there is from tyres and Brexit) is a product of a combination of these techniques, motivated by greed and helped along by passivity, conditioning and stupidity.
