maybe you’re over-thinking
maybe you’re over-thinking the whole bike fit thing? not sure how much riding you’re doing now, but you probably want to do some riding in on a bike you’re broadly comfortable on before have a bike fit. I’ve had one, because I was getting all sorts of aches and pains I wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong, fit wise.
there doesn’t seems to be a hard and fast rule about crank length, just a slight inclination for longer legs, longer cranks.
Saddle height, you want your knee just off straight at 5, 6 or 7 o’clock. As I’ve got fitter, I’ve “grown” at least 1.5″!
Handlebar positioning vertical and horizontal I think is the greatest variable – you just want to be able to sit on the bike and your hands fall naturally on the brake hoods without you feeling compressed or more likely, stretched.
Start with bars and saddle dead level. You can turn the bars down a bit if you want and twiddle with the location of the hoods too.

would it be an overstatement
would it be an overstatement to say that we and CUK have sent him packing on this nonsense, the “survey” having “closed” in what, the space of a week?

One morning walking out of
One morning walking out of the village on a 30 mph road, I heard a car coming up behind way too fast , I half turned and gave the upturned “query” palm gesture. No prizes for guessing the return gesture in the windscreen.
It was a young guy, driving a newish white Fiat 500 with his girlfriend; my wife said it was futile, but I live in hope that there might be a realisation, an unravelling, possibly borne out of self-preservation, that this guy gets a kick out of causing upset everywhere he goes.

I’m sure Fair Fuel could help you with this. You’d have to have it registered with them before you can pay -ahem- VED on it.

It started off reasonably
It started off reasonably enough then …
FROM RECENT MEDIA REPORTS, UNELECTED SPECIAL ADVISORS IN NO 10 ARE INFLUENCING THE ROLL OUT OF CYCLE LANES. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS
HAS ROLLING OUT HUNDREDS OF MILES OF DEDICATED CYCLE LANES DURING THE PANDEMIC BEEN THE RIGHT TIME TO IMPLEMENT
SHOULD ROAD CYCLISTS BE MADE TO ADHERE TO THE SAME ROAD USER RULES THAT DRIVERS LEGALLY MUST FOLLOW, SUCH AS:
1. MOTORING LAWS & PENALTIES
2. ROAD USER TESTS
3. ROAD TAXES
then the survey Meister went to the pub and we got the above.
The fact that anyone can take this survey and they have no idea on age, gender, ethnicity, etc.and there’s no independent scrutiny, this is little better than Facebook.
I assume as a declared Walker and cyclist, I’ll go straight in the bin anyway.
I think I was a mainly a yes on the last one above.
Brilliant : “do you like paying taxes?” Rabble rousing.

did he close the deal?
did he close the deal?
A CAR dealer was stopped for speeding while demonstrating a BMW to a customer.
He was also penalised for failing to display trade plates property after being stopped travelling at 62mph in a 50mph limit on the Dorset Way in Poole.
A spokesman for the Dorset Police No Excuse team said: “The trade plate has been slung on the dashboard and only half of it can be seen anyway.
“Didn’t help that the driver decided to draw the attention of one of our officers by doing 62mph in a 50mph zone on the Dorset Way and with a customer on board too. Fixed penalty given for the two offences.”
(No buildings were harmed in making of this of this post.)
