Or better still, not have any

Or better still, not have any cars parked all over what looks like a very nice market square?

A Kia, so we’re more in

A Kia, so we’re more in luminous, empty city centre, perhaps the 4 gorgeous companions, not quite sweeping ocean road or gnarly mountain track territory?

    Oh great

    Oh great

Hull City Council has indicated bus lanes are likely to return to use at peak times only. Councillor Mike Ross, the council leader, said last week: “The clear message we got from last summer’s transport survey was that most people wanted to see a return to peak-hours bus lanes. We have listened and now we’re taking action.”

    Perha it is the indifferent

Perhaps it is the indifferent quality of the Now shots that brings it out . The usual row parked cars.

There were no signs to say

There were no signs to say drive on the left-hand side of the road – I’ve discovered another little-known rule. And now I am going to tell the whole of the south west how stupid I am.

    “I was handed a parking

“I was handed a parking ticket for a little-known rule”

“This is actually a pitfall lots of people have accidentally fallen into”

Throughout my two decades of driving, I have tried to follow the rules down to a tee. Never parking too close to corners, always avoiding double yellow lines and staying away from dropped pavements – even if I’m only dashing out for a few minutes.

And because I’m such a stickler for the rules, I have almost never been slapped with a parking ticket before. All that changed this weekend.

I had parked my vehicle in Bristol city council’s free St George’s car park. This location has bays but there are also spaces to leave your vehicle in other unmarked locations that are not blocking people

All the bays were full, so I found a spot that was not obstructing anyone else. There were no road markings or signs saying ‘please park in bays’, so I had no idea I was breaking any rules.

But then I unfolded the ticket and saw all the information and realised that there is a little-known rule that you have to park in bays at car parks even if that is not stated anywhere in the vicinity.

Car crashes into branch of The Nottingham building society in Ilkeston

Pictures show a vehicle shattered the window of a branch of The Nottingham building society on Bath Street, Ilkeston, on Saturday, December 17. No injuries have been reported.

The crash has resulted in some calling for the pedestrianisation of the surrounding area. One person commented: “It’s time no cars were allowed at all on Bath Street.”

I arrived at the car park and I happened to go out by the means one is supposed to come in. An employee of the supermarket hailed me – “hey, Jack” he shouted, “where do you think you are going?”, that is at least the just of what he said.  But that’s what I want to ask you, here tonight, “where do you think you’re going?”
