Stogursey speed indicator device written-off as car hits it on first use

A NEWLY-bought speed indicator device (SID) and its post in Claylands Corner, Stogursey, has been destroyed after a car crashed into it the first time it was used.

Parish councillors were told matters became even worse when within two days a second post in Idson Lane which was to have been used for the SID ‘disappeared without trace.’

    No actual drivers on another

No actual drivers on another cycle parking story,  but the kicker for me on this one is that the man causing all the issues is himself a district councillor.  The “door” is long disused and he wants to bring it back into use. The town council hasn’t been quick enough for him about moving the cycle rack, so he’s DIY-ed it (picture). The council have responded in kind and put it back – across the “door”.

That might just work!  My problem is that while I almost always drag along a pannier or two (Orlieb Backrollers currently) and usually have a manbag’s worth of “useful” items (raincoat, pump, tools, lock(s), sometimes spares …) including a plastic carrier or two …

… I tend to use the carriers (shopping then putting elsewhere, quickly scooping up discarded glass bottles before they become fragmented then needing to bin them etc.) thus often still find myself sitting soggily.

    I recommend the blue shoe

I recommend the blue shoe covers (for DIY?) for leaving on the saddle to keep the rain off (the Italian leather on my flite Tis don’t appreciate it), work out at 10p each. They last for a while, up to a month before holes and rips develop.

Was given an Oxford Cycle Org promotional saddle cover, which was disappointingly not at all waterproof, would have been reasonable on a plastic covered saddle. I passed it forward.

    Interesting – but will it

Interesting – but will it help me get compensation for my mis-sold car finance scheme, or make scratches on my damaged paintwork invisible, just like that?

Can you recommend any covers for cycle tracks, to help clean them of all the grime, stored building materials and illegally-driven-there motor vehicles?
