    Southampton dad called

Southampton dad called ‘paedophile’ for calling out bad parking

Speaking to the Echo, he said: “They are leaving their cars parked on no-stopping zones, which causes long queues and cars driving over pavements.

“They then drive on the pavement when there’s queues of traffic.

“If a child gets hurt because of this it will be a disaster.

“On one occasion I put masking tape on a badly parked car, which then made the driver angry.”

And of course you can be

And of course you can be booked for doing this, although it must be harder to prove  in court. I wonder what the “success” rate is – like how many flash recipients actually understand the message?

How nice to have such a benevolent view of other drivers that you’re prepared to run the (slight) risk of being done to try to flash a “warning” to them.

As for Mr Tipper Truck, that seems like a lot of attention-seeking to me – small wonder he has gotten away with just a warning for this stupid act.

It does all sound a bit

It does all sound a bit laboured at the moment, but maybe after a couple of weeks the issue will go away? I wonder what the Parkcos’ service to car park owners is like – e.g. once you get them in, are you pretty much stuck with them?

Meanwhile the extent driver entitlement to enter someone’s land without permission (with or without citing the “only for a minute” waiver) never ceases to amaze.

    Can’t decide between “not

Can’t decide between “not exactly subtle” and ” blimey, I can think of people whose discourse isn’t far off this”; not being a watcher of this show, is it always like this?

    Tunbridge Wells council

Tunbridge Wells council denies claims by former councillor that bus lane fines have been wrongly issued to 29,000 drivers

A bit of a long read, but in short it’s another driver try-on using the Schrödinger’s traffic regulation order formula: the rules are too straightforward and simple, the rules are too confusing.

But Matt Bailey, who lost his seat in May, says Tunbridge Wells council has been improperly handing out the penalties.

Mr Bailey, an accountant, himself received a ticket after breaching the bus gate restrictions in July. He said: “I did it deliberately to test whether they would allow an appeal.”

Pub blocks its car park with

Pub blocks its car park with cones due to ‘parents who won’t listen’ taking up all the spaces picking up children

Workers from the pub are currently having to sit and monitor the car park each day

Louis claimed that the business was losing trade due to non-customers occupying the car park. He says: “We are losing trade. Potential customers go elsewhere if they see that the car park is full, workmen that visit the pub that finish around 3 o’clock have nowhere to park, and if we have events we need the spaces for the guests.”

After a family called to say that they were unable to visit the pub due to the busy car park, Louis decided he needed to take action and block off the car park every afternoon. Workers sit by the cones and let genuine customers park.

(knocking off by 3 pm – what am I missing??)

Engineer says he has been forced to reduce how far he will travel for work due to new 20mph speed limit

All-service engineer Gary Keating from Ammanford said he doesn’t think he will get his normal number of jobs done in a day after the new legislation is introduced because it will take him longer to get to customers

Asked what he thought about the new legislation in general, he said: “I don’t agree with the blanket [change]. I agree [the 20mph speed limit] needs to be around schools, and it needs to be around maybe playgrounds or estates where kids do run around and there are a lot of pedestrians or even down in the high streets where the shops are.

“But to put the main roads, which is what a lot of these are, down to 20 because it’s a built up area is probably not the best move to make… I just think it’s going to cause major problems, not only with people like me, but what about with haulage companies? They’re only allowed to do so many hours on the road before they have to stop – they’re obviously not going to get as far, are they?”

    Furious Yorkshire workman

Furious Yorkshire workman blocks police camera with tipper truck – and warned he could lose his own van

West Yorkshire Police were carrying out enforcement work when the 67-year-old blocked their view on purpose

The tipper truck driver was given a conditional caution with conditions prohibiting him from parking within 20 metres of any mobile speed enforcement vehicle or doing anything to willingly obstruct their view, and to remove all social media posts relating to him committing this or other offences. He was also issued with a Section 59 Notice under the Police Reform Act which means a repeat of this behaviour may result in the seizure of his vehicle.

    (not sure why he’s furious)

If,as seems to be the case,

If,as seems to be the case, graves/markers have been moved, it’s hard to see how this was ever going to end well.
